Cold air strengthens, lowest temperature in the North is 9 degrees Celsius

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, due to the influence of increased cold air, the temperature in the North on the morning of October 23 decreased by 2-4 degrees Celsius compared to the morning of October 22.

Mau Son mountain peak, about 1,500 m high, receives the first and strongest cold air, so the temperature drops to the lowest in the North, 9 degrees Celsius.

High points such as Sin Ho ( Lai Chau ) down to 12 degrees Celsius, Sa Pa (Lao Cai) 13 degrees Celsius, down 2-4 degrees Celsius compared to the morning of October 22. Some other mountainous areas below 15 degrees Celsius such as Dong Van (Tuyen Quang), Tam Dao (Phu Tho), Moc Chau (Son La).

The Northern Delta on the morning of October 23rd generally had temperatures below 20 degrees Celsius. In Hanoi , all five measuring stations in Ba Vi, Son Tay, Hoai Duc, Ha Dong, and Lang recorded temperatures of 18 degrees Celsius, down 4-6 degrees compared to previous days. The highest forecast for the day is only 23 degrees Celsius.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that due to cold air dominating the weather in the North and Thanh Hoa, from October 23 to 24, the lowest temperature in the Northeast will generally be 19 - 21 degrees Celsius, in mountainous and midland areas 17 - 19 degrees Celsius, and in high mountains below 16 degrees Celsius.

Cold air is forecast to be active in December 2025 and January 2026, severe cold (daily average temperature of 15 degrees Celsius or lower) in the North is likely to appear from the second half of December 2025.
