All 16,000 trees and thousands of square meters of shrubs in an urban area in Hung Thang ward (Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province) were knocked down by storm No. 3. However, up to now, most of the fallen trees have been promptly replanted and have begun to sprout.

In addition to the system of lawns and shrubs along the main roads, the urban area also plants and cares for more than 16,000 trees to create shade and reduce noise and dust.
Previously, the tree system was pruned to prevent breakage and falling when super typhoon Yagi made landfall in Ha Long City. Photo: Thu Le.
However, when storm No. 3 (Yagi) made landfall in Quang Ninh province, thousands of trees in the urban area in particular and Quang Ninh province in general were knocked down by the storm winds.
According to Dan Viet reporters and statistics from authorities, up to 80% of the trees in the Halong Marina urban area were knocked down and uprooted when storm No. 3 made landfall in Quang Ninh on September 7.

About 20 excavators, 20 cars, 50 saws and other service equipment, along with 400 officers and employees of the company from direct and indirect sectors, participated in overcoming the consequences after the storm.
Trees were planted and braced after storm number 3.

Since the storm, all fallen trees along Hoang Quoc Viet Street have been cleared and replanted. About 75% of the fallen trees in the entire urban area have been cleared.
Sharing his experience in rescuing fallen trees after the storm, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Son - Head of Trees and Landscape Department of BIM Group Corporation said: “The first 10 days are the golden time to save the trees. During this time, we cannot damage the root hairs of the tree (part of the tree roots) which play an important role like the intestines of a human. Therefore, it is necessary to replant the tree in the ground as soon as possible. The branches and leaves must be trimmed close to the trunk. After 1 week of planting, we will feed the tree with root stimulant and provide special care.”
