On the morning of December 26, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lam Dong, said that regarding the fact that some Korean tour guides arbitrarily explained about Vietnamese culture and history to tourists when coming to Da Lat City (Lam Dong), the Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lam Dong assigned the Department's Inspectorate to urgently inspect and review the operation of Korean tour guides without ensuring the prescribed conditions for strict handling.

Ms. Ngoc said that in the past few days, the Department has received feedback from the public and tourists that currently in Lam Dong province, there is a situation where some units use foreign tour guides, but do not ensure the conditions according to regulations.
In fact, through some clips circulating on social networks, recently Korean tour guides (without tour guide badges) have been leading tourists to many tourist attractions in Da Lat such as Bao Dai Palace, Da Lat train station, Lang Biang Mountain... Some tour guides have introduced incorrect information about the history, culture, and customs of Vietnamese people and Da Lat without any supervision from local tour guides, interpreters, or the tourist attractions themselves.
Many Korean tourists come to visit Da Lat train station, but it is explained by Korean tour guides.
Lam Dong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism requires travel service businesses and tour guide service providers to only use tour guides who meet the conditions for practice as prescribed in Clause 3, Article 58 of the Law on Tourism; and to be responsible for the tour guide's activities during the time of guiding tourists according to the contract.
In addition, units are required to check information about tour guides' working conditions before assigning them to guide groups of tourists at the unit. At the same time, increase investment in multilingual automatic tour guide equipment to serve key tourist markets: Korea, Thailand, Japan, India... to prevent tour guides from forcing customers to buy additional services, taking customers to shopping attractions not included in the tour schedule...
The number of Korean tourists coming to Da Lat is increasing, so the need for translators, interpreters, and guides who know Korean is increasing.
To meet the increasing demand for Korean tourist groups to Da Lat, Lam Dong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is coordinating with Da Lat University to send Korean language students (final year) to interpret and support Korean tourists visiting Da Lat. In addition, some international travel agencies in Lam Dong with many tour guides fluent in Korean will also be invited to cooperate.
"Foreign tour guides must be granted an international tour guide card when arriving in Lam Dong to be able to explain to tourists. Up to this point, Lam Dong has not issued tour guide cards to any Koreans, so tour guides who lead groups to tourist attractions and explain themselves are violating the Tourism Law (2017). If they violate, the fine will be up to 80 million VND," Ms. Ngoc added.
