This morning, on the streets of Phu Thuy ward, Ham Thang ward such as: Vo Chi Cong, Tran Dai Nghia, Huynh Van Nghe, Nguyen Thong, Tran Quang Dieu... the water level in some places is moderate to deep; causing difficulties for people on their way to school and work this morning. According to local people, the water level started to rise from around 10 o'clock last night. This morning there are signs of receding but slowly.
As of 8:30 a.m. on December 5, Nguyen Thong Street (the road connecting Phan Thiet city center to Mui Ne tourist area) was still flooded, with some sections flooded 0.5m deep. Vehicles were moving slowly. Phu Thuy Ward People's Committee coordinated with the Ward Police and Thanh Hai Border Guard Station to guide, direct traffic and support vehicles passing through.
Along with that, the traditional fish sauce production and processing area in Phu Hai (Phu Thuy ward) is also deeply submerged in water. According to incomplete statistics, there are currently more than 60 fish sauce production facilities affected. People said that the water rose quickly and peaked at around 7 pm last night, many processing factories were unable to react in time, so all kinds of raw materials and salt were submerged in water.
Mr. Huynh Thien Huan, owner of Hong Khanh fish sauce facility, said: "In the evening, the water rose quickly and suddenly while there were no workers working so there was no time to run away from the flood. The overflowing water damaged 20 tons of salt that had just been imported to prepare for the new fish sauce crop, and was dissolved with the water." Currently, local forces continue to deploy measures to support people to overcome the consequences.
On the night of December 4, in Phu Thuy ward, new flooding spots also appeared in residential areas along the river, low-lying areas, near drainage canals such as Thanh Hai Quarter, Phu Hai 1 Quarter, Xom Oc Quarter... Local authorities and functional forces are on duty regularly and continuously warn people to stay away from deep water areas and move their belongings. Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan, Thanh Hai Quarter A (Phu Thuy Ward) said that flooding is rare here, but this year the water rose quickly and high. Although water flooded into houses, no major damage has been recorded, but we still cannot be subjective.
