Roll-up screen laptop on shelves, priced at $3,299

After introducing the idea in 2022, Lenovo realized the first rollable screen laptop at CES 2025 earlier this year.

Now, Lenovo has finally officially launched the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable laptop, a groundbreaking version in the ThinkBook line that Lenovo has been developing for many years.

The ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable is the result of a collaboration between Lenovo and Intel.

With its innovative design, the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable allows users to expand their display space with a simple button press or gesture. Starting with a 14-inch screen, users can expand it up to 16.7 inches by simply pressing a dedicated key on the keyboard. Importantly, users can adjust the screen size from a distance using hand gestures thanks to advanced edge-lit camera technology.

Reportedly, to create this first rollable screen laptop, Lenovo collaborated with Intel during the product development process, involving two years of research and development. The design required a smaller printed circuit board and a rearrangement of internal components to create space for a pair of small motors that allow the OLED screen to roll up and down. Zheng Jiong from Intel stated, "We designed the thermal and power control technology to operate efficiently within the system on the Intel Core Ultra chip."

The price of the world's first rollable screen laptop is $3,299.

The ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable is equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 7 CPU, integrated graphics, and a neural processor capable of performing 48 trillion operations per second. The system comes with 32 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD. The display has a brightness of 400 nits and a resolution of 2000 x 1600 pixels at a 5:4 aspect ratio, or 2000 x 2350 pixels at an 8:9 aspect ratio when fully extended.

Additionally, the device features Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, USB-C Thunderbolt, a 5MP RGB camera, an infrared camera with privacy shutter, dual microphones, Harmon Kardon speakers, and a 66Wh battery with fast charging support. The ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable meets MIL-STD-810H durability standards and is currently priced at $3,299.
