The groundbreaking ceremony for the construction project of the bridge over the Day River connecting Ninh Binh and Nam Dinh provinces took place.

On the morning of September 29th, the People's Committee of Nam Dinh province held a ceremony to launch the construction of the bridge over the Day River connecting Ninh Binh and Nam Dinh provinces, part of the Ninh Binh - Nam Dinh - Thai Binh - Hai Phong expressway.

Attending the ceremony were: Pham Gia Tuc, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Secretary of the Nam Dinh Provincial Party Committee; Le Dinh Tho, Deputy Minister of Transport; Le Quoc Chinh, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the Nam Dinh Provincial Delegation to the National Assembly; and Pham Dinh Nghi, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Nam Dinh Provincial People's Committee.

Representing Ninh Binh province were Comrade Nguyen Cao Son, Provincial Party Committee member and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of several departments, agencies, and Yen Khanh district.

The project to build a bridge over the Day River connecting Ninh Binh and Nam Dinh provinces, part of the Ninh Binh - Nam Dinh - Thai Binh - Hai Phong expressway, is being implemented according to Decision No. 17/2022 dated July 28, 2022, of the Prime Minister on the decentralization of the implementation of projects and component projects for investment in expressway sections under the form of public investment within the Program for Economic and Social Recovery and Development.

The project is managed by the Nam Dinh Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board. The total investment is 1,450 billion VND. The route is 2 km long, passing through two communes, Khanh Cuong and Khanh Trung (Yen Khanh district), and three communes, Nghia Chau, Nghia Trung, and Nghia Thai (Nghia Hung district, Nam Dinh province).

The project has a scale of 4 lanes, with a design speed of 100 km/h. On the Ninh Binh province side, the bridge connects to the Bai Dinh - Kim Son road via two branches with a roadbed width of 12m; on the Nam Dinh province side, the overpass connects with National Highway 37B and also connects with Provincial Road 490 via two branches with a roadbed width of 8m.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Dinh province, Pham Dinh Nghi, expressed his sincere gratitude to the central ministries and agencies and Ninh Binh province for their attention, support, and facilitation in the implementation of the project.

To ensure the project is implemented on schedule and with quality, the comrade also expressed his hope that Ninh Binh province, especially Yen Khanh district, would continue to pay attention to and closely coordinate with the investor to carry out land clearance and related procedures in a coordinated manner during the project implementation.

Nam Dinh province will continue to focus on propaganda, mobilization, and explanation to help people understand the benefits of the project. This will foster support and consensus in land clearance work, ensuring the project's progress.

Directing departments, agencies, and localities to perform their assigned tasks well. Immediately after the commencement of construction, the contractor will be directed to focus on mobilizing all resources, materials, and equipment, and to implement appropriate construction methods to ensure quality, progress, and safety.

The construction project of the bridge over the Day River is of significant importance, contributing to connecting the main transportation routes of Ninh Binh and Nam Dinh provinces, gradually completing the expressway from Ninh Binh to Hai Phong, and strengthening intra-regional and inter-regional connectivity in the Red River Delta.

This will alleviate the burden on the existing transportation system, shorten travel time and reduce costs between the southern provinces of Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh, and Thai Binh and Hai Phong, and vice versa. Simultaneously, it will act as a driving force to attract investment and human resources, create jobs for workers, and facilitate the economic development of Ninh Binh and the surrounding region.

At the ceremony, along with delegates from the Central Government and Nam Dinh province, Mr. Nguyen Cao Son, Vice Chairman of the Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee, performed the ritual to officially launch the project's construction. The project aims to be completed by December 2024.
