The purpose of the business trip was to connect investors, introduce development potential based on green growth, and reaffirm Long An as an ideal destination for Korean businesses.
From October 13-16, 2024, a delegation from Long An province, led by Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, visited and worked in South Korea to promote investment. The delegation included leaders from various departments, agencies, localities, port businesses, and industrial park infrastructure companies of the province.
The visit aimed to introduce the potential, development orientation, and reaffirm Long An as an ideal destination for Korean businesses. The province demonstrated its determination to focus on connecting industrial parks with potential investors in various fields, especially high-tech agriculture, innovation, renewable energy, and logistics, towards a sustainable economic development in Long An.

On their first day in South Korea (October 14th), the Long An Provincial Delegation met with former South Korean President Lee Myung Bak in Seoul. The two sides exchanged information on the investment activities of South Korean organizations and businesses in Long An over the past period, and shared potential and opportunities for future cooperation, aiming to promote investment in Long An province.
Former President Lee Myung Bak emphasized the importance of adopting green and circular economic models. Both sides agreed that sustainable development and environmental protection are crucial elements in any future cooperation strategies. At the same time, former President Lee Myung Bak shared some experiences from South Korea in developing green infrastructure, praised the dynamism of Long An province, and encouraged Long An to study and apply these experiences to local practices.
Speaking at the meeting, Long An Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Van Duoc stated that South Korea is one of the province's important strategic partners, playing a significant role in the province's economic development. Accordingly, Long An always strives to create a favorable investment environment and support foreign businesses, especially Korean businesses.
The Secretary of the Long An Provincial Party Committee expressed his hope that all levels and sectors of the province would continue to strive, effectively utilize, and exploit opportunities from the trend of global supply chain connectivity and green development to maintain traditional markets and partners such as South Korea; proactively explore investment trends of multinational corporations and large enterprises in South Korea to approach and connect investments in industries where the province has advantages, invite investment to Long An, and reap positive results together with Long An.
Currently, out of the total foreign investment value of over 12.4 billion USD in Long An, South Korea ranks third and has become a strategically important partner of the province in investment promotion activities, receiving attention and strengthening relations with the province.

During the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc extended an invitation to Mr. Lee Myung Bak to attend the 2nd Long An Culture, Sports and Tourism Week and the Long An - Korea Exchange Program in 2024, taking place from November 28th to December 4th, 2024 in Long An province, as an honored guest. This is an important event, not only promoting the image and culture of Long An province, but also fostering a close and deep cooperative relationship between Long An and Korea.
According to the schedule for the coming days, the Long An Provincial Delegation will participate in working sessions and survey projects of major Korean corporations in the fields of urban infrastructure development, commerce, services, energy, and logistics.
Furthermore, Long An province proactively reaches out to major organizations and investors in South Korea and other countries with projects that align with the province's investment attraction strategy, aiming to identify opportunities, strengthen cooperative relationships, invite investment, and promote the economic development of Long An province in the coming period.
Strategically located, rapidly urbanizing, and possessing strong infrastructure development, Long An ranked second in Vietnam in the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) in 2023. With advantages in industrial and service development and attracting foreign direct investment (FDI), Long An has become an ideal destination for developing a logistics chain. In line with the province's trend of developing inter-regional transportation infrastructure, Long An International Port is becoming a driving force for the formation of a large-scale logistics center in the Mekong Delta right within Long An province.
