Long An promotes investment and cooperation with Korea

The trip aims to connect investment, introduce development potential in the direction of green growth and reaffirm Long An as an ideal destination for Korean enterprises.

From October 13-16, 2024, the Long An Provincial Delegation led by Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, visited, worked and promoted investment in Korea. The delegation included leaders of departments, branches, localities, seaport enterprises, and industrial park infrastructure of the province.

The trip aims to introduce the potential, development orientation and reaffirm Long An as an ideal destination for Korean enterprises. The province shows its determination to focus on connecting industrial parks with potential investors in many fields, especially high-tech agriculture, innovation, renewable energy, logistics, aiming at sustainable economic development in Long An.

Former President Lee Myung Bak is interested in investing in high-tech fields, green industry, industrial park and cluster infrastructure, in line with Long An's sustainable development orientation.

On the first day in Korea (October 14), the Long An delegation met with former Korean President Lee Myung Bak in Seoul. The two sides exchanged information on investment activities of Korean organizations and enterprises in Long An in recent times, and shared the potential and opportunities for future cooperation, promoting investment in Long An province.

Former President Lee Myung Bak emphasized the importance of applying green economic and circular economic models. The two sides agreed that sustainable development and environmental protection are important factors in any upcoming cooperation strategy. At the same time, Former President Lee Myung Bak also shared some experiences from Korea in developing green infrastructure, highly appreciated the dynamism of Long An province and encouraged Long An to study and apply these experiences into local practice.

Speaking at the meeting, Long An Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Van Duoc said that Korea is one of the important strategic partners, playing a major role in the economic development of the province. Accordingly, Long An always strives to create a favorable investment environment, accompanying foreign enterprises, especially Korean enterprises.

The Secretary of the Long An Provincial Party Committee hopes that all levels and sectors of the province will continue to make efforts, take advantage of and effectively exploit opportunities from the trend of connecting global supply chains and green development, to maintain traditional markets and partners such as Korea; proactively learn about investment trends of multinational corporations, large enterprises and groups in Korea to approach and connect investment in industries that the province has advantages in, call for investment in Long An and reap good results with Long An.

Currently, out of the total foreign investment value of more than 12.4 billion USD in Long An, Korea ranks third and has become an important strategic partner of the province in investment promotion activities, receiving the province's attention and strengthening relations.

Long An province delegation visited and worked with former South Korean President Lee Myung Bak

During the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc invited Mr. Lee Myung Bak to attend the 2nd Long An Culture, Sports and Tourism Week and the Long An - Korea Exchange Program in 2024, taking place from November 28, 2024 to December 4, 2024 in Long An province as a guest of honor. This is an important event, not only promoting the image and culture of Long An province, but also promoting the close and deep connection of the cooperative relationship between Long An and Korea.

According to the working schedule in the following days, the Long An Provincial Delegation will participate in working sessions and survey projects of large corporations in Korea in the fields of urban infrastructure development, trade, services, energy and logistics.

In addition, Long An province always proactively approaches large organizations and investors in Korea and other countries with projects suitable for the province's investment attraction orientation, in order to seek and identify opportunities, strengthen cooperative relations, call for investment, and promote economic development of Long An province in the coming time.

Possessing a strategic location, rapid urbanization, strongly developed infrastructure, the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) in 2023 ranked 2nd in Vietnam, holding advantages in industrial and service development, attracting foreign direct investment (FDI), Long An has become an ideal destination for developing logistics chains. In the trend of developing inter-regional transport infrastructure of the province, Long An International Port is becoming a driving force to promote the formation of a large-scale Logistics Center of the Mekong Delta right in Long An province.
