In many coastal areas, new flooding spots are constantly appearing. Authorities are on duty 24/7 in residential areas, helping people move their belongings and bringing the elderly and children to safety.
Locals said they had never seen water levels rise as quickly as this in many years, but they remained calm, followed instructions and proactively left the dangerous area.
In Ung Chiem neighborhood (Ham Thang), local forces tried to reach each household in low-lying areas, ready to rescue if the flood continued to come at night. Thanks to experience from the previous flood, most of the people were prepared, packed up essential assets and moved with the support of the authorities.

Mr. Pham Tan Vinh, a resident of Ung Chiem neighborhood, recounted: “The water rose from dusk and in just a short time, it rushed into the house. The strong current swept straight into the door, leaving me no time to react. I only had time to hold my child and call the rescue force. In more than 30 years of living here, I have never seen the water rise so quickly.”
At around 2 a.m. on December 5, the task force was still on duty in the strong currents to evacuate households along streams and low-lying areas.

Lieutenant Colonel Vo Duy Thanh, Chief of Thanh Hai Border Guard Station, said the unit mobilized maximum forces to rescue people throughout the night of December 4 until the early morning of December 5.
35 officers and soldiers were mobilized to coordinate with local authorities to support the evacuation of the elderly, women, children and transport essential assets.
From 4am on December 5, the unit mobilized 2 fishing boats and 10 fishermen to join the search for 1 oil tanker and 2 logistics service ships whose mooring lines broke and drifted out to sea. Up to now, all 3 vehicles have been found, the ship owners have approached and repaired, ensuring safety.

On the evening of December 4, when the water level rose, threatening to cut off many households in Phu Thuy Ward, Mui Ne Border Guard Station quickly deployed a working group and a mobile canoe to the scene. The forces coordinated to move households in areas at risk of deep flooding to safety.
This morning (December 5), high tides combined with large waves threatened vehicles anchored at Tan Thang. Tan Thang Border Guard Station mobilized 15 officers, soldiers and fishermen to move their boats to higher positions to limit damage caused by high tides.

In Ham Thang commune, prolonged heavy rains caused widespread flooding. Officers and soldiers of the Defense Command of Zone 5 - Phan Thiet mobilized to key locations, assisted people in evacuating and moving their belongings; at the same time, helped people harvest vegetables to minimize damage.
In the dark, power outage, and rapidly rising floodwaters, the task force still persistently stuck to the area, using canoes and specialized vehicles to reach isolated areas, bringing food and drinking water to each household and bringing the elderly and children to safety.

Despite the complicated weather, officers and soldiers of the armed forces still uphold their responsibility, bravely overcome difficulties, and closely coordinate with local authorities to minimize damage and ensure the safety of people's lives and property.
