(CLO) On February 13, billionaire Elon Musk urged the United States to "mind its own business instead of pushing for regime change everywhere" at the Summit of World Governments in Dubai (UAE).
He also called for "eliminating entire bureaucracies" to reduce spending and restructure the priorities of the U.S. government , arguing that the current administrative apparatus is governed by "bureaucratic rules contrary to the rules of the people."
In his speech, Musk also addressed the role of the United States on the international stage. He criticized the US's interference in the internal affairs of other countries, while supporting Trump's policy of cutting funding for organizations such as the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the National Foundation for Democracy.
According to Musk, " America should mind its own business instead of pushing for regime change everywhere."

Alongside these announcements, the Trump administration began mass layoffs of federal employees, focusing on those still on probation. According to the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), hundreds of thousands of employees could be affected, although the exact number has not been released.
The Department of Veterans Affairs has confirmed it has laid off more than 1,000 employees, while the Department of Education and the Department of Housing have also begun cutting staff. In addition, the U.S. Forest Service is expected to terminate contracts with at least 3,400 employees.
Along with layoffs, Trump announced a freeze on federal hiring on the very first day of his second term, preventing the filling of vacant positions and the creation of new ones in most cases.
