On October 27, in Abyei, a handover ceremony took place for Banton Bridge - the bridge repaired and restored by the "blue beret" soldiers of the Vietnam Engineering Team No. 4 (under the United Nations Interim Security Mission in Abyei - UNISFA Mission).
This is not just a simple traffic project, but a symbol of connection, hope and efforts to build peace in this divided land.

At the handover ceremony, Colonel Alexander De Lima, Chief of Military Staff of the UNISFA Mission, expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the repair of the Banton Bridge, which was “completed in just one week”. He called it a “great testament to the speed and efficiency of work”, and the direct link between infrastructure and security.
“Each of these results directly contributes to peace, because when people have opportunity and hope, peace becomes more sustainable,” the colonel said.
Meanwhile, Alal Nyang District Chief Doldol Nyang considered the bridge as "a testament to the United Nations' concern and Vietnam's affection for the land of Abyei".
In particular, Minister of Infrastructure and Public Services Kon Maneit Matiok praised the "performance, discipline and admirable working spirit" of the Vietnamese blue beret soldiers.

According to the 4th Engineer Team, Banton Bridge is not just a road, it is also a strategic "bloodline", a unique traffic route that directly affects security, economy and people's lives in Abyei.
The long-standing severe deterioration of the bridge has made UNISFA Mission patrols extremely difficult, cut off civilian traffic and hindered humanitarian relief efforts.

In that context, the task of repairing Banton Bridge was assigned to the Vietnamese 4th Engineer Team. As soon as they received the task of "rescuing" the bridge, the "blue beret" soldiers immediately got to work.
Overcoming difficulties in materials, weather and construction conditions, with technical skills, creativity and determination, the soldiers miraculously "revived" the bridge.
According to Captain of the 4th Engineer Team, Lieutenant Colonel Trinh Van Cuong, as peacekeepers of the UNISFA Mission, his and his teammates' mission is not only to help protect peace, but also to join hands in building peace - little by little, brick by brick.

"Today, through this bridge, we are proud to make a sustainable contribution to that noble mission," said Lieutenant Colonel Trinh Van Cuong.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Cuong, Banton Bridge not only has strategic value but is also a "lifeblood" of humanity, a path of hope, dialogue and trust that the Vietnamese "blue beret" soldiers have worked hard to build.
