The Government has just issued Decree No. 168/2024/ND-CP regulating administrative sanctions for violations of traffic order and safety in the field of road traffic; deduction of points and restoration of driving license points.

In particular, Article 10 of this decree stipulates penalties for pedestrians violating road traffic rules.

Specifically, a fine of 100,000 - 200,000 VND will be imposed on pedestrians who do not walk in the correct lane, cross the median strip, cross the road in the wrong place, or cross the road without using hand signals as prescribed.

Pedestrians who do not comply with the orders or instructions of traffic lights, signs, or road markings, except for violations specified in Clause 2 of this Article; do not comply with the orders or instructions of traffic controllers or traffic inspectors; carry or lift bulky objects that obstruct traffic; or hang on or cling to moving vehicles are also subject to this penalty.

In addition, pedestrians entering the highway, except those serving the management and maintenance of the highway, will be fined from 150,000 to 250,000 VND.
