(Dan Tri Newspaper) - A poor woman who lost her savings of several months while shopping for Tet (Lunar New Year) in Quang Tri has received over 100 million VND in donations and assistance from benefactors.
On January 29th, Captain Hoang Ngoc Minh, Head of the Vinh Thai Commune Police Station, Vinh Linh District, Quang Tri Province, announced that on New Year's Eve, philanthropists donated over 100 million VND to help Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa (residing in Tan Mach village, Vinh Thai commune).
The money was sent to Ms. Hoa after the story of her losing 1.5 million VND while shopping for Tet (Lunar New Year) went viral on social media. This was the money Ms. Hoa had saved up over two months.
According to Captain Minh, the entire amount of money from benefactors has been transferred to Ms. Hoa by the Vinh Thai Commune Police. The list of benefactors will be made public when the bank resumes operations.
Earlier, on the afternoon of January 27th, a resident of Vinh Thai commune found 1.5 million VND and brought it to the commune's police station to report the find and return it to the owner.
The Vinh Thai commune police identified Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa as the owner of the money and brought it to her home to return it. There, the authorities learned about Ms. Hoa's particularly difficult circumstances. The poor woman lives with her sick, bedridden aunt.
The story of Ms. Hoa losing her money and her difficult circumstances was shared on social media by the Vinh Thai Commune Police, attracting significant attention from the community.
