Speaking at the ceremony, Editor-in-Chief Le Quoc Minh emphasized that As if Uncle Ho were there on the day of great victory , it became a triumphant song of the spirit of great solidarity and the aspiration for independence.
With its majestic melody and simple but hearty lyrics “Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh !”, the work not only arouses national pride but also inspires a strong will and aspiration for Freedom - Independence - Happiness.
He said that on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, Nhan Dan Newspaper unexpectedly received a request to present the song from the musician and his family.
“At the program “Fatherland in the Heart ” organized by Nhan Dan Newspaper, more than 50,000 spectators at My Dinh Stadium sang this song together. Not only at the stadium, on social networks, tens of thousands of people also sang in unison. That proves that the song has gone through nearly half a century but its vitality has never diminished,” Mr. Le Quoc Minh shared.
He also affirmed that accepting the copyright of a song not only has legal significance but is also a promise to preserve and spread the heritage to future generations.

Like Uncle Ho on the Day of Great Victory was composed by musician Pham Tuyen on the night of April 28, 1975, in a humble space on the stairs of Khuong Thuong apartment building. The work was completed in just 2 hours, and was broadcast on Voice of Vietnam at 5:05 p.m. on April 30, 1975, right after the news announced the great victory.
On May 2, 1975, Nhan Dan Newspaper printed the entire song, bringing the melody from the newspaper to schoolyards, homes, and celebrations; crossing borders, being sung in Italy, Germany, the Soviet Union, Japan, Czechoslovakia... as a common language of joy for independence and reunion.
The audience calls this “the people’s song” because it rang out at the right time when the whole nation needed a song to name happiness, simple enough for everyone to sing, and precise enough to express the community’s gratitude to Uncle Ho and the generations who sacrificed.
At the event, Ms. Pham Hong Tuyen - the musician's daughter and family representative - emotionally shared: "My father always believed that music only truly lives when it belongs to the community. Therefore, we decided to hand over all management and use rights of the song to Nhan Dan Newspaper - a public institution representing the voice of the people, where the mission is to preserve common values and serve the Fatherland."
She emphasized that this is not the end of copyright, but a “semicolon” in the journey of spreading. The song will continue to go far, resounding in the right place, at the right time, from big holidays to classrooms, from community moments to daily life, as a lasting spiritual support.

Musician Do Hong Quan, Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, recalled: “On the day the country became independent, the song resounded throughout the streets of Hanoi. It is associated with the sacred moment, accompanying the years, becoming the spiritual baggage of many generations.”
Major General, musician Duc Trinh - Chairman of the Vietnam Musicians Association - commented: "The musician's family's choice of Nhan Dan Newspaper is completely correct. Through the Party's mouthpiece, the song will be circulated from political art to entertainment life. The Vietnam Musicians Association is ready to accompany to preserve and promote that value."
The decision to present today creates a meaningful cycle: In 1975, Nhan Dan Newspaper printed the entire song right after the great victory; half a century later, the work returned to the editorial office as a "common home" of memories.
From there, As if Uncle Ho were here on the day of great victory will continue to travel far, echoing in music classes, in solemn art programs, in media campaigns or on important anniversaries, reminding us of an endless April afternoon.
Every time the song is played, it is not only a melody of victory, but also a word of gratitude, a civic lesson and a promise: There are values that, the more they are preserved together, the brighter they become in the hearts of the nation.
