Musician The Bao
Composer Thế Bảo is known as an author who deeply cherishes the soldiers of Uncle Ho's army. His compositions on this theme include " Returning to Trường Sơn," "Sending the Wind Carrying Fragrance," "March of the Army Academy," "Midnight," "Heroic Vietnamese Air Force," "Chrysanthemum Season," "Marching Song of the Young Soldier of the Eastern Region," "Rose of the Distant Island," "Military Region 9's Marching Steps," "Sending to You from the Distant Island," "Epic of the Hoàng Sa Naval Squadron," etc. These are also 12 selected works performed in the program "Thế Bảo and the Soldier's Song."
According to musician The Bao, he wishes to share 12 selected songs about soldiers that he has composed with everyone in the program "The Bao and the Soldier's Song ," commemorating the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024). He expressed his hope that veterans, fellow musicians, and the audience would come to enjoy them.

The concert "The Bao and the Soldier's Song" (Program Director: musician Nguyen Quang Vinh – President of the Ho Chi Minh City Music Association, Artistic Director: musician The Bao, General Director: People's Artist Ho Van Thanh, Deputy Directors: musicians Le Anh Tu and Trieu Duong) will take place at 2 PM on December 21st at the Auditorium of the Union of Literature and Arts Associations, 81 Tran Quoc Thao Street, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City, with the participation of artists: Meritorious Artist Pham Khanh Ngoc, Minh Trang LyLy, Ngoc Quy, Kim Thoa, Nguyen Han, Ngoc Giau, Lac Viet group, Veteran Trio, Bach Duong dance group and the Choir of the Faculty of Music and Film, Nguyen Tat Thanh University.
Composer Thế Bảo, whose full name is Trần Thế Bảo, was born on August 22, 1937, in Bình Dương , Bình Sơn, Quảng Ngãi, into a family with a tradition in literature and art. His father was the poet Trần Tất Tố, and his older brother was the poet Tế Hanh.
Composer Thế Bảo attended Lê Khiết High School, then moved to North Vietnam as part of the Zone V Performing Arts Troupe. In 1956, he passed the entrance exam to the Vietnam School of Music (now the Vietnam National Academy of Music), and was retained as a teacher there from 1959. Composer Thế Bảo pursued postgraduate studies at the Liszt Ferenz Academy of Music in Budapest, Hungary. He defended his doctoral thesis in musicology and was appointed associate professor in 1991. He has taught at professional schools and short courses for numerous musicians throughout the country.
Composer The Bao was awarded the Second Class Labor Medal in 2004. In 2017, he received the State Prize. Besides his three books: *Reflections on Traditional Vietnamese Music Law*, *Aesthetic Perceptions of Music*, and *History of Vietnamese Music* , composer The Bao also wrote the symphonic poems *Rung Sac*, *Dat 9 Rong – Thanh Dong To Quoc*, the symphonic suite *Thang Long 990*, a piano concerto, a cello concerto, dozens of chamber music pieces, and hundreds of songs.
