The incident was recorded at Thai Nguyen Industrial College (under the Ministry of Industry and Trade ) located in Son Cam commune, Thai Nguyen city, next to the road connecting National Highway 3 with National Highway 1B.
Through actual observation, most students comply with traffic safety regulations, however, it is easy to see that a large number of students violate them. Students ride motorbikes from school without helmets, without rearview mirrors, and carry more passengers than the prescribed number... When entering the national highway, these students also drive at high speed, recklessly cutting in front of trucks, causing insecurity for themselves and other vehicles.
Dai Doan Ket Newspaper reporters were present at the gate of Thai Nguyen Industrial College at 10:05 on October 31, right at the time when students were leaving school. Students who came to school mainly used gasoline motorbikes, a few used electric motorbikes and electric bicycles.
According to the reporter’s investigation, students at Thai Nguyen Industrial College are mainly between the ages of 15 and 17 (born in 2007 and 2009) who are both studying high school culture and vocational training. Therefore, there will be many students who are not old enough to be granted a driver’s license, and even only allowed to ride electric bicycles because they are not yet 16 years old.
However, from the actual images, it can be seen that some of the vehicles the children use are similar to motorbikes over 50 CC that only people 18 years of age and with a driver's license can drive.
Speaking to Dai Doan Ket Newspaper reporter, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hien, Vice Principal of Thai Nguyen Industrial College said: The school has coordinated with local authorities and Thai Nguyen Traffic Police to organize traffic safety propaganda for students. In addition, the school regularly disseminates traffic safety knowledge at flag-raising activities. Because the school has a large number of students, most of whom are ethnic minorities from mountainous provinces with different cultural customs, it is inevitable that there are students who do not fully comply with traffic safety regulations.
When reporters asked why there were so many students violating traffic safety regulations right in school, Mr. Nguyen Son Ha, Head of the Student Affairs Department, said: The content about students' compliance with traffic safety will be arranged for another working session and full information will be provided to reporters.
The meeting ended, but the representative of Thai Nguyen Industrial College did not inform about any solution to end the current violations of traffic safety regulations.
