Specifically, in the case of a patient with health insurance card code HS40101299XXXXX (Dong Da District, Hanoi ) who unfortunately suffered from blast leukemia, several retinal diseases, pneumonia, and other bodily injuries, the health insurance fund covered over 967 million VND.

Patient with health insurance card code HS43636202XXXXX (P. Hung Loc, Ninh Binh province) suffering from lymphoma, epilepsy, and myeloid leukemia received over 452 million VND in reimbursement from the health insurance fund…
In addition, there are many cases across the country where students unfortunately suffer from serious illnesses such as sepsis, heart failure, respiratory failure, etc., with high medical costs, all of which have been covered by the health insurance fund during treatment.
In reality, over the years, thanks to health insurance, students who unfortunately fall ill receive good treatment and care at medical facilities, with high-tech medical services. Especially for those with serious or chronic diseases requiring long-term, multiple treatment cycles and high costs, the health insurance fund has significantly reduced the financial burden on the students' families.
Statistics show that in the 2024-2025 school year, more than 20.8 million students nationwide will participate in health insurance, reaching a rate of 98.4%, an increase of nearly 1% compared to the previous school year. In just the first six months of 2025, the health insurance fund paid out more than 2,075 billion VND for 4.3 million medical examinations and treatments for students, an increase of 17% and 7.4% respectively compared to the same period in 2024.
Recently, the Government issued Decree No. 188, which stipulates new health insurance contribution rates for students.
Accordingly, the state budget will subsidize at least 50% of the health insurance premium. As a result, each student only has to pay a maximum of approximately 631,800 VND/year, saving an additional 252,720 VND/year compared to the previous academic year.
For the new school year, more than 20 million students nationwide will receive government funding to cover half of their health insurance premiums.
