In the early days of the Year of the Dragon 2024, many tourists visiting Bai Dinh Pagoda (Gia Sinh commune, Gia Vien district, Ninh Binh province ) were surprised to find that the walking path to the pagoda had disappeared. To reach the pagoda for sightseeing and worship, people had to buy electric tram tickets at various prices.

Mr. Minh (from Thanh Hoa province) said that in previous years, people and tourists from all over the country could get to Bai Dinh Pagoda from the bus station via two different routes: walking and buying electric tram tickets. However, this year the walking route has been closed, so the only way for people to reach the pagoda is to buy electric tram tickets.
Electric car tickets are listed and sold publicly at the ticket sales area of Bai Dinh Pagoda specifically as follows: From the bus station to the pagoda gate, 60,000 VND/ticket/adult; 40,000 VND/ticket/child taller than 1m (round trip ticket). Buying this type of ticket, visitors will be taken to the outer Tam Quan gate, then walk to visit the pagoda on their own.
With a ticket price of 360,000 VND/adult and 280,000 VND/child over 1m tall, visitors are taken by electric car to visit the destinations in the temple. This ticket price also includes a visit to the Bao Thap, a boat trip on Dam Thi Lake and a round-trip ticket...

According to the representative of Bai Dinh Pagoda Management Board, the electric car fare is publicly listed and sold according to Ninh Binh Province regulations. The collected amount will be used to pay taxes to the State and cover electricity, water, sanitation, staff and vehicle maintenance.
A representative of the Bai Dinh Pagoda Management Board added that in previous years, the pagoda's bus station and tram station were not completed, so there was a separate path for pedestrians.
"Since 2024, the temple's bus station area has been completed and the tram station has also been moved to another location. The walkway has also been blocked to implement other items of the temple," said the representative.

The leader of Ninh Binh Department of Tourism said that currently the walkway from the tram station to Bai Dinh Pagoda is being blocked so that the pagoda can carry out some construction works. "The blocking of this walkway is only temporary and is to ensure the safety of people and tourists when coming to the pagoda," the leader said.
The management board of Bai Dinh Pagoda recommends that people and tourists should not buy tram tickets from customers or touts outside the transaction counter area. Buying tram tickets from outside sources leads to many consequences such as fake tickets, increased ticket prices...
