According to the records on the evening of December 5, the rising tide caused water from the manholes on Vo Nguyen Giap Street (right at Rach Chiec Bridge) to overflow onto the road surface. During rush hour, thousands of motorbikes from the center of Ho Chi Minh City to Thu Duc City (old) were forced to slow down through the flooded section. The line of vehicles was congested, moving slowly one after another.
Traffic jam was more than 1km long, extending up to Rach Chiec bridge.
At 7pm, people continued to jostle each other across the flooded road to get home after a tiring day of work.
