Mr. Nguyen Van Tho (from Hai Duong) was appointed Director General of the General Department of Customs.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tho is a native of Hai Duong province.

Along with the decision to appoint the new Director General of Customs, the Ministry of Finance also issued a retirement decision for Mr. Nguyen Van Can, the former Director General of the General Department of Customs.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tho, born in 1972 in Hai Duong province, holds a Master's degree in Law. He served in the military for 12 years before joining the Anti-Smuggling Investigation Department of the General Department of Customs in 2002.

He was appointed Deputy Director of the Anti-Smuggling Investigation Bureau in October 2014.

In July 2018, he was appointed Director of the Personnel and Organization Department, General Department of Customs.

In September 2021, he was appointed Deputy Director General of the General Department of Customs.
