“We have opened diplomatic discussions with the Chinese side and have also started cooperation with the Chinese authorities. The Chinese side has made commitments and confirmed its desire to cooperate. We have started working together on the Balticconnector gas pipeline incident,” the Finnish Prime Minister said.

I think the next few days will clarify how things happened. Right now we have to be patient. We have to get a clear picture of what happened before we draw any conclusions."

China affirmed that it is ready to provide necessary information in the case according to international law.

According to Reuters , also related to the damage to the Balticconnector gas pipeline, on October 31, Finnish operator Gasgrid informed that the company had completed an inspection of the entire pipeline and could not identify any additional damage other than the damage confirmed on October 10.

Finnish police are leading a criminal investigation into the Balticconnector pipeline incident and have identified the Hong Kong-flagged container ship NewNew Polar Bear as the prime suspect in the damage to the gas pipeline in the Baltic Sea.

Investigators also noted that it was too early to determine whether the damage to the gas pipeline connecting Finland and Estonia was an accident or an act of sabotage.
