Chan Young-kun and Nari are two tourists from Korea, currently on a long trip in Nha Trang City (Khanh Hoa Province).
The couple revealed that they have tried many "national" dishes in Vietnam such as pho, banh mi, bun cha but have not had the opportunity to experience delicious fruits.
“I have tried mango and rambutan, but I have only heard of durian but have not had the chance to enjoy it,” said Nari.
Seeing his girlfriend excited and wanting to try this familiar fruit of Vietnamese people, Young-kun decided to take her for a walk around the city center to buy durian.
The two stopped by a fruit shop on Nguyen Thien Thuat Street. Here, they sold many types of seasonal fruits such as mangoes, mangosteens, bananas, grapes, etc., served by weight and packaged in pre-peeled trays.
In addition, the shop also has both whole durian and separated durian for customers to conveniently choose and buy according to their needs.
Young-kun and Nari chose to buy a small durian, weighing 1.5kg for 195,000 VND (about 11,000 Won).
The seller said that because it is off-season durian, the price is higher than during the main season, but the flavor is still guaranteed to be delicious.
“Although it is not durian season, I still want to try the taste of this famous fruit,” Nari shared.
Meanwhile, Young-kun kept showing surprise, asking his girlfriend over and over again if she was sure she wanted to eat it because durian really had a very strong taste.
When watching the shop owner skillfully cut open the durian and separate the segments, the female tourist could not hide her excitement and said she wanted to enjoy it right there.
She boldly brought the peeled durian tray to her nose and was surprised by the sweet aroma that came out.
“The durian feels so soft and sweet. It smells so good,” Nari commented.
The female tourist boldly took the first bite of durian and slowly savored the taste. She was surprised and exclaimed, “It’s so delicious,” nodding her head repeatedly to show her satisfaction.
“It took me a while to notice the strange smell coming from the durian segments. But the fruit is really delicious and I want to eat more,” she said.
Seeing his girlfriend enjoying the delicious durian, Young-kun also tried it. He commented that the durian was quite delicious but not as sweet as the durian in season.
The Korean male tourist admitted that when he first arrived in Vietnam, he was not used to the original taste of durian so he did not have the courage to enjoy it.
However, after trying it a few times, he was quite impressed by the delicious taste. “If you eat durian in season, it will be more delicious and sweet,” Young-kun said.
Although off-season durian is quite expensive, two Korean guests admitted that the money spent was completely worth it because they got to enjoy a delicious fruit.
They also humorously said that they wanted to live here longer so they could experience the rich tropical fruits that are not available in Korea, such as mangoes.
