(NLĐO) - After conducting an investigation, the school determined that the larvae came from green apples. The incident occurred at an international school in Ho Chi Minh City.
According to reports from students, some students discovered larvae in their school lunch on February 12th. Specifically, at noon on February 12th, a student at WellSpring Saigon School found larvae in their pan-fried salmon dish. The student immediately informed their friends and school representatives.
On February 13th, a representative from WellSpring Saigon School confirmed that the incident occurred at noon on February 12th, during the school's lunchtime. The representative stated that at that time, a student from class 7/6 discovered larvae in their school lunch tray, specifically in the compartment containing the pan-fried salmon. The tray has multiple compartments.

According to this source, immediately after receiving the information, the school's kitchen staff reviewed the entire food preparation process. The menu for students that day included minced meat and vegetable soup, spaghetti with minced beef sauce, pan-seared salmon with rosemary, white rice, mashed potatoes, egg salad, red plums (for elementary school students), and Phan Rang green apples (for middle school students).
Upon investigation, the school confirmed that the larvae originated from green apples, as the apple compartment was located next to the pan-fried salmon compartment. The school explained that apples are fresh fruit and naturally carry larvae even after processing. When inspecting the remaining apples in the distribution area, the kitchen staff also found some apples containing larvae.
According to the representative, to mitigate similar risks in the future, the school will temporarily suspend the use of this potentially hazardous fruit. Simultaneously, the school will offer peeled fruit for students. It is understood that all the dishes in the students' lunch meals are prepared and cooked by school staff.
