In 2024, Trang An ( Ninh Binh ) will celebrate its 10th anniversary as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Ninh Binh province plans to hold a commemorative event with a series of attractive activities.

On the morning of January 24th, the Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee held a press conference to announce the organization of the event commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Trang An scenic complex being recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural and Natural Heritage site; and other events and programs to be held in 2024.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Tran Song Tung, Vice Chairman of the Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee, said that to mark the 10th anniversary of the Trang An scenic complex being recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, Ninh Binh province will organize many activities aimed at connecting and spreading culture, taking place from January to September 2024. According to Mr. Tung, the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Trang An heritage site is of great importance in remembering, educating , and inspiring future generations to better understand and appreciate the historical origins and traditions of the ancient capital of Hoa Lu, and the position, role, and importance of the Trang An scenic complex; while also strengthening community cohesion, promoting cultural exchange, and showcasing the image and cultural heritage of the ancient land of Trang An to domestic and international friends and tourists. "To date, Ninh Binh is the only locality in Southeast Asia to possess a mixed cultural and natural world heritage site. Therefore, we are deeply aware that the Trang An heritage site is not only a treasure bestowed by nature, preserved and passed down through generations of Ninh Binh people to this day, but it is also a place where historical and cultural values ​​and fine traditions of the nation converge and crystallize."

The Trang An heritage site will only realize its value when it brings material and spiritual benefits, fosters social cohesion, maintains livelihoods, and creates new livelihoods for the people. The ancient capital of Hoa Lu is an ancient land with a deep history, a vast space, and a long history of human habitation, befitting its geopolitical , geostrategic, and geocultural position. "The 10th anniversary of the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex being recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site is an opportunity to reflect on the past, look at the present, and look towards the future, with the goal and determination to build Hoa Lu - Ninh Binh into a millennium heritage city and a centrally-governed city by 2035," Mr. Tung said. A series of activities are planned for 2024, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of Trang An's recognition as a World Heritage Site, including: a traditional Tet festival; and an international scientific conference on the theme "Promoting the role and value of the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex as a world cultural and natural heritage site in building a millennium heritage city and connecting UNESCO heritage cities."

Many programs and events will be organized in 2024 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Trang An scenic complex being recognized as a heritage site.

The event included a scientific seminar on the theme "The Vu Lam Royal Palace in the formation and development of the Truc Lam - Yen Tu Buddhist thought of Tran Nhan Tong and the historical and cultural value of the painting 'Truc Lam Great Master's Departure from the Mountain'"; an archaeological exhibition space showcasing the cultural values ​​of the province and the Trang An scenic complex; an exhibition of images of 9 World Heritage sites in Vietnam; and a discussion on developing archaeological tourism products. The Ninh Binh Tourism Week "Golden Colors of Tam Coc - Trang An" was organized; a journalism competition was held on the topic of preserving and promoting the value of the Trang An scenic complex and developing sustainable tourism; competitions were held for composing songs and literary works about Ninh Binh province and the Trang An scenic complex; and an exhibition of ornamental plants from provinces in the expanded Red River Delta region was organized with the theme "The Quintessence of the Ancient Capital". Organize a design competition for unique gift items of the province, linked to the heritage values ​​and cultural and historical values ​​of the relics within the heritage area.

On June 25, 2014, the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex was officially inscribed by UNESCO as a World Cultural and Natural Heritage site, based on three outstanding criteria: outstanding global cultural values; aesthetic values; and outstanding global geological and geomorphological values. At the time of its recognition, Trang An was the 31st mixed heritage site in the world, the 11th in the Asia-Pacific region, and the first mixed heritage site in Southeast Asia.
