Department of Health works in An Phu commune on dengue fever prevention and control

On September 9, Deputy Director of An Giang Department of Health Chung Tan Thinh led a working delegation to inspect and supervise the prevention and control of dengue fever and hand, foot and mouth disease in An Phu commune.

The inspection team visited the Medical Laboratory of An Phu Commune Health Center.

According to a quick report from the An Phu Commune Health Center, from July 1st to the present, the highest number of dengue fever cases have been recorded in An Phu commune (124 cases), Nhon Hoi (95 cases), Vinh Hau (90 cases), etc.

According to 14 health stations under the An Phu Health Center, dengue fever cases have increased significantly since the beginning of the year, far exceeding the 5-year average and higher than the same period in 2024. The An Phu Health Center has launched a campaign to eliminate mosquito larvae in hamlets with high monthly case numbers; strengthened communication efforts through various means; and organized training on disease prevention and control for all officials from departments, organizations, hamlet people's committees, and school health workers in September. Health stations are also increasing mobile communication efforts in outbreak areas and hotspots; stations that consistently carry out these efforts will receive bonus points at the end of the year.

The inspection team checks on epidemic prevention and control work at households in An Hung hamlet.

The delegation conducted a field survey of disease prevention and control work in An Hung hamlet, An Phu commune; randomly surveyed households; and shared information on potential risks of dengue outbreaks and measures to prevent and control the disease.

The delegation also noted the need to innovate in terms of visually engaging communication methods; guiding students and the public on how to prevent and control dengue fever and hand, foot, and mouth disease.
