Vibrant Harvest Festival in the hometown of the late Prime Minister Pham Van Dong
On the morning of April 20th, the Harvest Festival took place in Duc Tan commune, Mo Duc district, Quang Ngai province. The festival was held in the birthplace of the late Prime Minister Pham Van Dong (Duc Tan commune). This is also a highlight in the construction of advanced new rural communes and the strong development of community tourism models. The festival recreates scenes of old rural villages, honoring the traditional rice cultivation and processing of rice-based foods. The students enthusiastically participated in the hands-on activities related to rice harvesting. "Previously, I only knew about agricultural production through books. Now, having the opportunity to participate in the Harvest Festival, I truly understand the hard work of farmers and appreciate rice grains even more," said Nguyen Lam Han (a 5th grade student from Duc Tan Primary School). Besides harvesting rice, the festival includes many other activities such as folk games and making traditional rice-based dishes: rice paper, steamed rice cakes, and savory pancakes. Tourists are excited to experience making cakes. The festival also features food stalls offering specialties from the agricultural countryside of Duc Tan. Straw effigies depicting agricultural activities in the fields are one of the distinctive highlights of the Harvest Festival. This area is also popular with students and tourists who come to have fun and take photos. According to local authorities, the Rice Harvest Festival aims to be held annually to create a unique local tourism product and gradually develop a community-based tourism model. "The Harvest Festival is a gathering place for activities that honor the essence of rice-farming culture and provide fun and experiential activities that reflect the unique rural identity," shared Tran Le Vuong Vu, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Duc Tan Commune.
