On August 31, Syria condemned Israel's escalating violence against Palestinians in the West Bank, as well as the support of the US and other Western countries for Tel Aviv.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry and Foreigners stated: “Over the past few days, we have witnessed a dangerous escalation of massacres carried out by the Israeli army against Palestinians in the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem.”
The ministry said that the Israeli army continues to commit more atrocities in Jenin and the West Bank. They also continue to kill and destroy Palestinian homes in the Gaza Strip.
The Syrian diplomatic agency asserted that the support Israel receives from the US and other Western countries demonstrates that Israel's statements about not expanding military operations and ending offensive military policies are meaningless.
Western and American policies that support Israel are not only aimed at the Palestinian people, but also at policies implemented anywhere in the world that do not serve Western interests.
The ministry's statement affirmed: "Syria strongly condemns Western policies, attacks and crimes committed with the support of the United States and demands an immediate end to them."
* On the same day, the Israeli army announced that its first soldier had been killed in the raid in the West Bank that began on August 28.
The announcement stated that 20-year-old soldier Elkana Navon was killed and another soldier was seriously wounded.
Since August 30th, Israel has concentrated military operations in the city of Jenin and its refugee camp, locations that were once bases for Palestinian armed groups fighting against Israel.
* On September 1st, Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko accused his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu of continuing the conflict in Gaza for personal political gain and proposed isolating Israel to end "the atrocities sponsored by some Western countries."
Speaking at a gathering of hundreds of Palestinian supporters at the Grand Mosque in the capital Dakar, Sonko said: “We are witnessing a (Israeli) Prime Minister who is willing to walk over thousands of corpses to keep his office and avoid facing justice.”
As a West African nation with nearly 95% Muslim population, a supporter of the Palestinians internationally, and close to the Arab world, Senegal has chaired the United Nations Committee on the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People since the 1970s.
