Earlier, on the night of August 29th, a task force from the Traffic Police Department and the Traffic Police Division of Phu Yen Provincial Police conducted a specialized inspection of drivers operating vehicles on the road while under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
While on duty at kilometer 1318 on National Highway 1A, in An My commune, Tuy An district, Phu Yen province, the task force noticed that the driver of a passenger bus with license plate 77B-013.29, VVT (born in 1985, residing in Tuy Phuoc district, Binh Dinh province), showed unusual signs. A rapid urine test was conducted, and the result was positive for MOP (Heroin).
In addition, the task force discovered that the vehicle tracking device on this passenger bus had been switched off since 11:41 AM on August 29th.
The First Bus Company's vehicle is currently being impounded.
The VVT driver confessed that he had previously been persuaded to smoke heroin by a motorbike taxi driver at a bus station in Ho Chi Minh City, and that the vehicle tracking device was modified by the bus company with a switch to turn off the transmission when the vehicle was in motion and turn it back on when inspected by authorities.
For driving under the influence of drugs and operating a passenger transport vehicle equipped with a malfunctioning GPS tracking device, the task force issued an administrative violation report against driver VVTh. Simultaneously, the task force temporarily seized the aforementioned passenger bus and instructed the owner of the De Nhat bus company to arrange for another vehicle to transfer the 28 passengers from the bus with license plate 77B-013.29 to continue their journey to Ho Chi Minh City that same night.
The First Passenger Transport Company was also issued a citation for using vehicles equipped with non-functional vehicle tracking devices.
