Man detained for investigation of possession of military weapons

On February 13, Kon Tum City Police (Kon Tum) said that the unit is temporarily detaining TQĐ (35 years old, in Dak Doa District, Gia Lai) to serve the investigation of the act of storing military weapons.

At about 8:30 p.m. on February 12 (the third day of the Lunar New Year), a working group including the Traffic Police Department, the Social Order Administrative Management Police Department, and the Mobile Police Department of Kon Tum Provincial Police were on patrol, controlling, and handling alcohol violations at Km1550 National Highway 14 (in Kon Tum City).

At this point, the task force spotted two men driving a motorbike with suspicious behavior. Immediately, the patrol team signaled them to stop for inspection.

When approaching the task force, the motorcyclist immediately turned around and ran away. The person sitting behind jumped off the bike and pulled out a gun, suspected to be a military gun, intending to throw it away. The task force immediately subdued and arrested the man.

The working group handed over the TQĐ along with the gun and 5 bullets to the Criminal Police Department of Kon Tum City for handling according to regulations.

Examining the gun, the task force discovered 5 bullets inside. As for the driver of the motorbike who fled, the police are still continuing to verify and clarify.
