It is known that in July 2024, Vietnam Telecommunications and Information Technology Joint Stock Company (VNTEL.,JSC) made spam calls with the purpose of defamation, harassment and debt collection.
Accordingly, on November 5, the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Information and Communications issued a decision to sanction administrative violations against VNTEL.,JSC Company for making spam calls, according to the provisions of Point b, Clause 6, Article 94 of Decree No. 15/2020/ND-CP dated February 3, 2020 of the Government stipulating sanctions for administrative violations in the fields of post, telecommunications, radio frequencies, information technology and electronic transactions, amended and supplemented by a number of articles of Decree No. 15/2020/ND-CP dated February 3, 2020 and Decree No. 119/2020/ND-CP dated October 7, 2020 of the Government stipulating sanctions for administrative violations in press and publishing activities.
The Inspector of the Ministry of Information and Communications said that with the above behavior, Vietnam Telecommunications and Information Technology Joint Stock Company will be fined 70 million VND.
VNTEL.,JSC will also be suspended from providing services for 2 months according to the provisions of Point a, Clause 9, Article 94 of Decree No. 15/2020/ND-CP dated February 3, 2020 of the Government stipulating sanctions for administrative violations in the fields of post, telecommunications, radio frequencies, information technology and electronic transactions, amended and supplemented by Decree No. 14/2022/ND-CP dated January 27, 2022 of the Government on amending and supplementing a number of articles of Decree No. 15/2020/ND-CP dated February 3, 2020 and Decree No. 119/2020/ND-CP dated October 7, 2020 of the Government stipulating sanctions for administrative violations in press and publishing activities.
