According to data from the General Department of Customs, from the beginning of the year to July 15th, Vietnam exported 68,736 tons of tea, a 30% increase compared to the same period last year.
The average export price of tea reached US$1,718 per ton, an increase of 1.2% compared to the same period last year, contributing to a cumulative tea export turnover of US$118.1 million up to July 15th, a 31% increase compared to the same period last year.
In the first half of 2024, Vietnam exported tea to 18 markets. Pakistan was Vietnam's largest tea export market with 16,072 tons; however, compared to the same period last year, it recorded a 13% decrease in volume. It was also the only market to achieve export volumes exceeding 10,000 tons of tea.

Taiwan (China) was the second largest tea export market with 6,762 tons, a 10% increase compared to the same period last year. China was the third largest market with 6,304 tons, a significant 207% increase in volume compared to the same period last year.
Other major markets include the US with 4,053 tons, up 62% year-on-year; Indonesia with 4,831 tons, up 69% year-on-year...
Within ASEAN, besides Indonesia, Vietnam also exported tea to Malaysia with 2,862 tons, a 35% increase compared to the same period last year; and to the Philippines with 362 tons, a 26% decrease compared to the same period last year.
In terms of value, tea exports to Pakistan reached the highest level at $33.6 million, a decrease of 3% compared to the same period last year; followed by Taiwan (China) with $11.3 million, an increase of 14% compared to the same period last year.
At levels below $10 million, tea exports to China reached $9.3 million, an increase of 86% compared to the same period last year; Russia with $5.8 million, a decrease of 3% compared to the same period last year; the US with $5.7 million, an increase of 83% compared to the same period last year; Indonesia with $5 million, an increase of 86% compared to the same period last year...
Within ASEAN, Vietnam exported tea to Malaysia, earning $2 million, a 44% increase compared to the same period last year; while exports to the Philippines reached $0.9 million, a 25% decrease compared to the same period last year.
In terms of price, Germany has the highest average export price for tea at $5,360 per ton, followed by the Philippines at $2,651 per ton, Saudi Arabia at $2,608 per ton, and so on.
