Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested THACO to participate in researching and transferring technology for manufacturing train carriages and locomotives for the North-South high-speed railway project.
On February 8th, during his working visit to Quang Nam province , Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited several key economic facilities and large enterprises in the province.
The delegation included Minister of Transport Tran Hong Minh, along with leaders from central agencies and leaders of Quang Nam province.

Accordingly, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh surveyed Chu Lai International Port and Chu Lai International Airport, and visited and worked with Truong Hai Group Joint Stock Company (THACO) in the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone.
THACO is one of the largest private enterprises in Vietnam, operating in multiple sectors including automotive, agriculture, mechanical engineering and supporting industries, investment-construction, trade-services and logistics, developed on a foundation of industrial management that is integrated and complementary.
Reporting to the Prime Minister, THACO leaders stated that in 2024, they sold over 91,000 cars, accounting for more than 32% of the domestic car market share, and exported over 1,100 vehicles with revenue exceeding 12.6 million USD.
By 2025, THACO plans to complete the investment in and operation of its new automotive R&D center, focusing intensively on research and development of products, with a target sales volume of over 100,000 vehicles.
Specifically, the focus was on high-value products to achieve revenue of 80.847 billion VND and exports of over 4,000 vehicles generating more than 35 million USD in revenue.
THACO's total tax contribution in 2024 exceeded 23,700 billion VND. Of this, over 19,300 billion VND was contributed to the Quang Nam provincial budget, providing employment for over 15,000 workers in Quang Nam and 60,000 workers nationwide.
Mr. Tran Ba Duong, Chairman of THACO, stated that the company will strive to implement strategic projects to form a new generation multi-industry industrial ecosystem in Chu Lai - Quang Nam, based on industrial management, green development, smart, modern, and sustainable practices.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested THACO to participate in research and technology transfer for the production of high-speed railway carriages and locomotives.
Here, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh praised and highly appreciated THACO's achievements, including high-quality products, a higher localization rate, job creation, and significant contributions to the national budget.

At the same time, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh instructed the Ministry of Transport to handle the procedures related to the investment project for the Cua Lo channel to allow 50,000-ton vessels to enter Chu Lai port, as requested by THACO.
According to the assessment of Minister of Transport Tran Hong Minh, THACO's factory and production lines are standardized according to international standards.
Minister Tran Hong Minh added that the Ministry of Transport will soon be assigned by the Government to implement the North-South high-speed railway project and hopes that THACO will participate with the Ministry of Transport in researching and implementing the project to ensure progress and efficiency.

On the same day, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited Chu Lai Airport; inspecting the implementation of the Prime Minister's directive from nearly three years ago regarding the project to socialize investment and operation of Chu Lai Airport.
Agreeing to develop Chu Lai Airport in a dual-use direction, the Prime Minister instructed ministries and agencies to coordinate with Quang Nam province to review and delineate land areas for national defense, civilian, and economic development purposes; appraise assets; finalize and submit the Chu Lai International Airport Master Plan for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, for the Prime Minister's approval; and promptly appraise and submit to the competent authority for approval the Project on Socialization of Investment and Operation of Airports to serve as a basis for finalizing the Project on Socialization of Investment and Operation of Chu Lai Airport.
