The Prime Minister highly appreciated the contributions of the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic to the local socio -economic development, serving as a strong bridge in the Vietnam-Czech Republic relationship and engaging in many activities directed towards their homeland.
Continuing the activities within the framework of the official visit to the Czech Republic, on the evening of January 19th, local time, in Prague, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his wife, and the high-level Vietnamese delegation attended the "Homeland Spring 2025" program and extended New Year greetings to the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic.
The program was organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in the Czech Republic in collaboration with the Union of Vietnamese Associations in the Czech Republic.
Reporting to the Prime Minister on the activities of the Union of Vietnamese Associations in Europe in 2024, Mr. Hoang Dinh Thang, President of the Union of Vietnamese Associations in Europe, emphasized that despite the community facing many difficulties, the Union, through its member associations, has always strived to overcome challenges and increasingly affirmed its role as a bridge promoting friendly cooperation between European countries and Vietnam; carrying out many activities to support the community and contribute to the homeland.
Mr. Tran Van Dang, President of the Union of Vietnamese Associations in the Czech Republic, said that with the support of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese and the Vietnamese Embassy in the Czech Republic, the community has been able to participate in many meaningful activities that connect them with their roots.
In addition, the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic has always been a pioneer in activities focused on their homeland.
With those achievements, the Union of Associations was awarded the First Class Labor Medal on the occasion of its 25th anniversary.
The community hopes that the Party and the State will pay attention to the heartfelt aspirations of overseas Vietnamese to regain Vietnamese citizenship and continue to provide forms of recognition and encouragement to overseas Vietnamese and their associations.
Ambassador Duong Hoai Nam emphasized that this was the first time in history that the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic had the opportunity to welcome the Prime Minister, his wife, and a high-ranking delegation to directly attend the "Homeland Spring" program and extend New Year greetings to the community.
The Ambassador reported to the Prime Minister on the results of bilateral relations between Vietnam and the Czech Republic, noting that the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic had made a significant contribution to these achievements.
In a warm and welcoming atmosphere, the Prime Minister cordially inquired about the community's situation; expressed pride in the community's persistent efforts in asserting its position in the host society; and happily and highly appreciated the contributions of the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic and its associations to the socio-economic development of the host country, serving as a strong bridge in the Vietnam-Czech Republic relationship and engaging in many activities directed towards their homeland.
The Prime Minister informed the people about the domestic situation; stating that, overcoming difficulties, Vietnam has achieved very important accomplishments in all fields, completing 15 out of 15 socio-economic development targets, with 12 targets exceeding the set plan.
GDP growth in 2024 reached 7.09%, with a GDP size of US$476 billion, placing Vietnam among the top 35 largest economies in the world. Vietnam continues to maintain macroeconomic stability, control inflation, and ensure major economic balances.
In terms of foreign relations, consistently pursuing an independent and self-reliant foreign policy, Vietnam has established diplomatic relations with 194 countries worldwide, has strategic partnerships, comprehensive partnerships, and comprehensive strategic partnerships with 32 countries, including all permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, and is an active member of over 70 regional and international organizations.
Sovereignty, territorial integrity, security, and national defense are guaranteed; national defense capabilities are strengthened. Among the country's achievements, the overseas Vietnamese community has made a significant contribution – "an inseparable part and an important resource of the Vietnamese nation."
The Prime Minister stated that 2025 is a year with many important national holidays, a year of Party congresses at all levels leading up to the 14th National Party Congress; the whole country will strive to achieve the set socio-economic development goals; and hopes that the Vietnamese community abroad, including the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic in particular and in Europe in general, will always stand alongside the country, contributing to realizing the national development goals by 2030 and 2045.
The Prime Minister was pleased to announce to the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic that the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front had decided to choose Prague as the venue for the first National Unity Day abroad; this demonstrates recognition and high appreciation for the achievements and contributions of the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic.
The Prime Minister hopes that the Vietnamese community will abide by the local laws, always be united, help and support each other, and promote the spirit of "mutual assistance," "national solidarity, and brotherhood," especially in difficult and challenging circumstances; he believes that the community will continue to integrate deeply, affirm their role and position in the local society, so that although they are one of the 14 ethnic minorities of the Czech Republic, they are not minority in quality and quantity, and will always be proud and worthy of being descendants of Lac and Hong.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his wife, and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation celebrated the Lunar New Year early with the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic and delegates from other European countries.
The joyful songs and melodies of spring, interspersed with laughter, New Year's greetings, and the traditional flavors of Tet (Vietnamese Lunar New Year), blend together to give everyone the feeling of being back home; forever preserving the beauty and soul of the nation and its people.
