To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2025), on August 15, the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum organized a thematic exhibition entitled "Children of the Fatherland".

In his opening remarks at the exhibition, Director of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum Nguyen Anh Minh emphasized that, through the lens of many generations of artists from Indochinese art, resistance art to the reform and modern era; and with rich and vibrant styles and visual languages, the exhibition introduces to the public images of those who silently dedicated their youth, energy, and even blood to protect and build the country through their works of art. They are the children of the Fatherland - those who have contributed to writing the glorious history of the nation, and are role models for today's generation.

The exhibition "Children of the Fatherland" showcases 80 representative works of art created between 1947 and 1986, in various materials such as oil paint, lacquer, silk, paper, wood, and plaster.
Through rich visual language, the works vividly portray the portraits of outstanding sons and daughters of the nation, from all periods and social classes. Some notable works include "Nguyen Van Troi" (woodblock print - Hoang Dao Khanh), "Deputy Commander Nguyen Thi Dinh" (charcoal lead - Diep Minh Chau), "Doctor Ton That Tung in surgery at Viet Duc Hospital" (Van Duong Thanh), "Emulation Soldier of Cam Pha Mine Pham Trong Thuy" (Nguyen Sang), "Labor Heroine Nguyen Thi Khuong - a Muong woman" (Than Trong Su)...

In particular, the exhibition showcases works by many prominent figures in modern Vietnamese art such as Phan Kế An, Nguyễn Sáng, Bùi Xuân Phái, Diệp Minh Châu, Nguyễn Sỹ Ngọc, Huỳnh Văn Gấm, along with artist-martyrs like Hoàng Anh, Hà Xuân Phong...
Besides the prominent figures, the exhibition honors millions of unsung heroes, such as naval soldiers, female guerrillas, mothers of soldiers, the "long-haired army," and women of Ap Bac... Each face and figure in each artwork is full of life, imbued with patriotism, leaving a profound impression of unwavering will and steadfast loyalty.
The exhibition "Children of the Fatherland" is not only an artistic activity but also a tribute to the generations of ancestors who wrote glorious chapters in history. It is also an opportunity for the public to reflect, feel proud, and continue the flame of patriotism, igniting the will to strive for a prosperous and happy Vietnam.
The exhibition runs until September 10th at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum (66 Nguyen Thai Hoc, Hanoi ).
