According to Reuters , speaking on a live national television program, President Maduro announced that Anabel Pereira has been appointed as the new Minister of Finance.
Hector Obregon assumes the position of new Chairman of PDVSA, replacing Pedro Tellechea, who will be transferred to become Minister of Industry.
In addition, Delcy Rodriguez will continue to hold the position of Vice President, but will also serve as Venezuela's Minister of Oil.
Yvan Gil and Vladimir Padrino will continue to hold the positions of Foreign Minister and Defense Minister, respectively, while Diosdado Cabello – leader of the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) – will assume the role of Minister of Interior, Justice and Peace .
President Maduro asserted that the aforementioned changes represent a “profound renewal of the government ,” and pledged that members of the Cabinet would help the country “open new paths” and “accelerate the changes that the Venezuelan people need.”
Previously, on August 22, the Supreme Court of Justice of Venezuela (TSJ) declared President Maduro the winner of the July 28 election.
The ruling, announced by Chief Justice Caryslia Rodriguez, emphasized that the Supreme Court of Justice “unquestionably certifies the electoral documents and confirms the results of the presidential election of July 28, 2024, as announced by the National Electoral Council (CNE),” and explicitly named Maduro as the winner.
