On October 12th, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Thu Duc City and the Director of the Department of Health of Ho Chi Minh City co-chaired a meeting to discuss and agree on the development direction of Thu Duc City to become the third specialized medical cluster of Ho Chi Minh City (the second specialized medical cluster, Tan Kien, Binh Chanh, is under construction; the first specialized medical cluster is the existing central medical cluster).

The People's Committee of Thu Duc City and the Department of Health have reached a high level of agreement on the types of specialized medical facilities that need to be developed, on diversifying investment methods, and on a multi-stage implementation roadmap. Priority will be given to the early deployment of new medical facilities to meet the urgent healthcare needs of the people of Thu Duc City and surrounding areas.

Specifically, priority will be given to allocating land that has been planned for medical purposes and is vacant land. Investment can be implemented immediately for existing public medical facilities that are currently overloaded or dilapidated, including Le Van Thinh Hospital (Branch 2, 0.9 ha), Le Van Viet Hospital (Branch 2, 1.5 ha), and the newly constructed Thu Duc City Hospital (5.8 ha), with proposals to use budget funds and stimulus loans.

In addition, the meeting unanimously agreed to prioritize allocating a vacant plot of land (0.8 hectares) for the construction of a new second Eye Hospital using stimulus loans. There was also strong agreement to build a new high-tech disease screening center (2.9 hectares) by attracting private capital. The PPP (Public-Private Partnership) model was also proposed and unanimously agreed upon for the construction of a new specialized stroke hospital (this type of specialized hospital currently does not exist in Ho Chi Minh City).

The Department of Health and the People's Committee of Thu Duc City have both agreed on prioritizing the construction of the Ho Chi Minh City Mental Hospital in Thu Duc City. Additionally, they agreed to relocate the Ho Chi Minh City Mental Health Rehabilitation Center (under the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs) next to the Mental Hospital, pending the approval of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs.

The People's Committee of Thu Duc City and the Department of Health have agreed to allocate 0.9 hectares for the construction of Le Van Thinh Hospital, Branch 2.

The People's Committee of Thu Duc City and the Department of Health have agreed to allocate 0.9 hectares for the construction of Le Van Thinh Hospital, Branch 2.

According to the Department of Health, another priority issue requiring the agreement of Saigon Transport Mechanical Corporation - Limited Liability Company (SAMCO) concerns the land plot (0.8 hectares already planned for a hospital and hotel but not yet implemented) for the construction of the 115 Emergency Center - Thu Duc Medical Cluster.

In addition to the Faculty of Medicine - Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, the prioritization of land for the development of more high-quality medical training facilities has received strong consensus from the People's Committee of Thu Duc City and the Department of Health.

Accordingly, in the land planning for healthcare in Thu Duc City, there are many land areas designated for hospital-university models such as the second facility of the Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, and medical universities of countries with developed healthcare systems (Japan, the UK, the US, etc.).

In addition, the Thu Duc medical complex also allocates land for nursing schools, which are linked to teaching hospitals such as Le Van Thinh Hospital and Thu Duc City Hospital.
