To build the nearly 20,000 billion VND expressway connecting Tay Ninh, Ho Chi Minh City plans to reclaim land from nearly 1,900 households with compensation costs of 5,270 billion VND.
Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway is a national key transport project approved by the Prime Minister for investment in August 2024 under the public-private partnership (BOT contract) method.
The project has a total length of about 51km, with the starting point connecting to Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 in Cu Chi District, the end point intersecting with National Highway 22 in Ben Cau District, Tay Ninh Province. The total investment is 19,617 billion VND and is divided into 3 component projects.
In which, component project 3: Compensation, support, resettlement of Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai expressway section through Ho Chi Minh City has a budget of 5,270 billion VND.
According to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City, this expressway project passes through 11 communes of Cu Chi district (HCMC) with a length of about 24.7km, the affected area is about 182.25ha. Ho Chi Minh City plans to recover about 1,877 cases, with about 254 households eligible for resettlement, about 178 households building houses on agricultural land and 11 households with non-agricultural land not residential land affected by the project.
Currently, Ho Chi Minh City and Tay Ninh are focusing on implementing the work of marking and demarcating the boundary to serve the compensation, support and resettlement of the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway Project (Phase 1). The work of marking and demarcating the boundary is expected to be completed by March 31.
Along with that, the work of recording the current status of land and statistics on assets attached to land of people whose land is recovered is also being carried out in parallel.
It is expected that in March 2025, the City People's Committee will issue a decision approving component project 3: Compensation, support, and resettlement of the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai expressway section through the city.
By July, the People's Committee of Cu Chi district will issue a decision approving the overall compensation, support and resettlement plan for the project and for each case affected by the project.
At the same time, this locality will pay money and reclaim land for at least 173.2 hectares/182.25 hectares, accounting for 95.03% to ensure the ground for the groundbreaking of the investment project to build a residential road and an overpass across the highway in early September.
Construction of the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway (phase 1) will begin in January 2026.
The Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway Project (Phase 1) was approved by the Prime Minister for investment with a length of 51km connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Tay Ninh. The scale is 4 lanes of expressway standards, speed of 120km/h, at the same time, construction of works on the route, intelligent traffic system, toll collection system, rest stops, etc.
The total estimated investment for phase 1 of the project is about 19,617 billion VND, with a toll collection period of 16 years and 9 months.
3,029 milestones were placed through 21 communes and wards to build the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai expressway.
