Resolutely deploy solutions to combat smuggling and trade fraud

DNO - On the afternoon of July 31st, at the conference summarizing the activities of the first six months of 2024 and implementing tasks for the last six months of 2024 of the City's 389 Steering Committee, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Chi Cuong, Head of the Steering Committee, acknowledged, commended, and highly appreciated the efforts of member agencies in launching campaigns, inspecting, controlling, maintaining market stability, minimizing the situation of counterfeit and substandard goods, contributing to creating an impressive tourism environment for visitors.

The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee requested that member departments continue to vigorously implement solutions to combat smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods; review new requirements to successfully complete tasks; focus on assessing the current situation and results, clearly identifying prominent issues and new methods in smuggling and trade fraud activities to promptly advise and develop plans for inspection, examination, and strict handling of violations and masterminds; and continue to strengthen coordination and close information exchange to quickly investigate and verify violations.

Media outlets are stepping up their efforts to raise awareness and promote compliance with the law, helping residents and tourists identify and report violations in relevant areas.

The Market Management Department continues to review, amend, supplement, and improve the coordination regulations between member agencies; and compiles opinions and proposals from member agencies to report to the city for consideration. This ensures a positive image of the city, creates a healthy business and trading environment, and provides peace of mind and comfort for tourists visiting Da Nang .

According to the report presented at the conference, in the first six months of 2024, members of the city's Steering Committee 389 conducted 2,213 inspections, a 31% increase compared to the same period; handled 2,048 violations, a 43.2% increase compared to the same period; initiated legal proceedings in 16 cases involving 73 individuals; and collected nearly 139.77 billion VND in fines (administrative fines, tax arrears, and proceeds from the sale of confiscated goods), a 16.4% increase compared to the same period.

At the conference, 3 collectives and 6 individuals received commendations from the Head of the National Steering Committee 389, and 7 collectives and 5 individuals received commendations from the Chairman of the People's Committee of the city.

Da Nang Newspaper is one of 17 organizations that received a certificate of commendation from the Head of the City Steering Committee for outstanding achievements in combating smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods in 2023.
