The Ministry of Education and Training announced its participation in the Exhibition of Socio-Economic Achievements celebrating the 80th National Day with the theme "80 Years of Education and Training for National Development."

The Ministry of Education and Training's exhibition booth will be divided into sections showcasing different historical periods and the outstanding achievements of the sector.

The exhibition area covering the period 1945-1954 focuses on the "eradicate illiteracy" movement. This also highlights the outstanding achievements of Vietnamese education in the early years after the successful August Revolution and during the resistance war against French colonialism. Responding to President Ho Chi Minh's call and following the directives of the Party and State, the "eradicate illiteracy" movement during this period flourished, overcoming the situation where over 90% of the population was illiterate – a consequence of the French colonialists' policy of keeping the people ignorant in order to facilitate their rule. The first educational reform also took place in 1950 during this period.

The exhibition area covering the period 1954-1975 reflects the overarching spirit of this era: no matter how difficult the circumstances, the pursuit of excellence in teaching and learning must continue. Vietnamese education during the period of socialist construction in the North and the struggle for national reunification, despite facing countless difficulties, achieved many encouraging results.

The outstanding educational activities of this period included the second educational reform in 1956; the establishment and development of the first academic disciplines in both quantity and quality; policies for education in mountainous and ethnic minority regions; attention to training cadres and students in the South; support for education in the South; the construction of a school system, the development of universities, vocational high schools, and teacher training colleges; and sending students abroad for study.

The exhibition area covering the period 1975-1986 focuses on the unification of the North and South Vietnamese education systems. The exhibition introduces the Vietnamese education system during the early period of socialist construction nationwide, including the third educational reform in 1979.

The exhibition area from 1986 to the present showcases Vietnam's education and training during the reform period, meeting the requirements of raising the intellectual level of the population, nurturing talent, and training high-quality human resources for the country. During this period, Vietnam underwent three reforms of general education to improve the quality of training, meet the requirements of the country's socio-economic development, and integrate internationally. In particular, the fundamental and comprehensive reform of education and training, as outlined in Resolution 29 of the Central Party Committee issued in 2013, has been implemented in schools from grades 1 to 12, creating significant changes throughout the entire sector.

The Ministry of Education and Training also dedicated an exhibition area to education and training geared towards the future, leading the country into an era of wealth and prosperity, with the central message: An era of breakthrough development in education and training.

The exhibition aims to affirm that training highly qualified and skilled human resources is a key factor in achieving breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation. Along with economic growth, it is essential to promote social progress, expand opportunities for all citizens to access quality education, lifelong learning, and maximize individual potential. Given these urgent requirements, strong institutional and policy decisions are needed to remove bottlenecks, focus resources on rapidly modernizing and improving the quality of education and training, with the goal of comprehensively developing learners and creating a high-quality workforce to meet the demands of national development and breakthroughs in the new era.

The exhibition showcasing the nation's achievements on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day is a significant and key event celebrating the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025). The exhibition will take place from August 28 to September 5 at the National Exhibition Center (Dong Anh commune, Hanoi).
