The exhibition displays 100 valuable documentary photos, vividly and realistically depicting the revolutionary life of General Secretary Nguyen Van Linh. Each photo is a slice of history, a story about the contributions, bold decisions, and simple yet noble daily moments of Comrade Nguyen Van Linh.

Speaking at the opening of the exhibition, comrade Nguyen Manh Cuong, Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, expressed: "Today's photo exhibition is an opportunity for our generations to better understand a heroic period of the nation's history, the great contributions of previous generations, especially the outstanding contributions of General Secretary Nguyen Van Linh. Each photo is a reminder of our responsibility in continuing to preserve and promote the achievements of the revolution, building Vietnam to become increasingly rich, democratic, fair, civilized, standing shoulder to shoulder with the world powers as beloved Uncle Ho always wished."

The exhibition is divided into two parts, of which part 1 "Comrade Nguyen Van Linh - An exemplary and resilient communist soldier" includes images depicting the portrait of comrade Nguyen Van Linh from the early days of participating in the revolution, when he was a young man full of enthusiasm, a communist soldier who was not afraid of hardships and sacrifices, ready to face all challenges and dangers.

Part 2, with the theme “General Secretary Nguyen Van Linh - The leader of the country's renovation”, is a series of photos recreating the country's context in the 1980s, when the centralized and subsidized economic model revealed its limitations and hindered development. In that context, with an independent and autonomous mindset and a spirit of daring to think and dare to do, comrade Nguyen Van Linh soon realized the need for change to help the country escape the crisis. He made important contributions to the preparation and initiation of the Renovation process at the 6th Party Congress (1986). At this Congress, he was elected General Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam , shouldering the responsibility of leading the country into the Renovation period.

We will see the image of a leader who is close, listens, understands, but is also very decisive and courageous. In particular, the series of articles "Things to do immediately" by Comrade in Nhan Dan newspaper, signed NVL, has created a great resonance, demonstrating the spirit of frankness, not avoiding the pressing issues of social life, promoting the role of supervision and criticism of the people and the press.
Imprints Things to do right at the beginning of Innovation
Starting with the article "Things to do immediately" (published in Nhan Dan newspaper on May 25, 1987), opening a new column in the Party newspaper; followed by 30 short, clear, and straightforward articles stating things to do immediately in all areas: erroneous perceptions, dogmatic and conservative leadership thinking, lax state management, corruption, harassment, negativity, things that dare to think, dare to do, dare to take responsibility, the spirit of "taking people as the root"...
All signed NVL, everyone knew that this was the abbreviation of the author's name Nguyen Van Linh, but then everyone guessed that the three additional characters also stood for Say and Do. The leader said and did, the leader had to say and do, the people and cadres also needed to say and do - The things that needed to be done immediately were therefore very practical, reminding and urging the things that needed to be done; the majority of cadres and people accepted, responded, followed, and acted immediately.
Not only a press phenomenon, What Needs to Be Done Now has had a very profound effect, spreading very quickly, creating a new wind blowing into the country, attracting the masses to eagerly enter the renovation process.
As the late General Secretary Nguyen Van Linh once said: “One or several leaders cannot know everything, say everything and do everything. Only the unanimous action of the entire Party and the entire people can create real change for the country”. The things that need to be done immediately entered the Doi Moi dictionary as a phrase indicating a practical guiding principle; and have been inherited and promoted by the entire Party and the entire people in construction, development and integration, as well as in the current revolution of streamlining the organizational apparatus.
