Trường quốc tế AISVN bị đình chỉ hoạt động 12 tháng kể từ ngày 1- 7

AISVN International School has been suspended from operation for 12 months starting July 1st.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has just released information regarding the situation at the American International School Vietnam (AISVN), a primary, secondary, and high school.

AISVN International School has had its operations suspended due to failure to report debt payments.

The Department of Education and Training stated that it and the inter-agency task force worked with the investor and the school board of AISVN International School on May 28th, requesting that the investor and the school board submit a report to the department before June 15th.

The reports include evidence demonstrating compliance with the educational operating conditions stipulated in the 2019 Education Law, and a comprehensive report on the payment of debts to tax authorities, social insurance, salaries for teachers and staff, and other educational services.

However, after June 15th, the Department of Education and Training had not received a report from the institution to determine whether AISVN International School met the legal requirements for educational operations.

The school does not meet the conditions for being granted permission to operate educational activities, specifically: it lacks sufficient financial resources as required by regulations to ensure the maintenance and development of educational activities.

There is a shortage of educational administrators to implement the educational program and organize educational activities.

Therefore, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has decided to suspend the school's educational activities for a period of 12 months, starting from July 1st.

We request that the school ensure that students' learning is not interrupted.

This section outlines the responsibilities of AIS American International Education Joint Stock Company and AIS Vietnam International School towards students, teachers, educational administrators, and school staff.

The Department of Education and Training requires AIS Company and AIS Vietnam International School to fulfill the following obligations:

For students, implement appropriate solutions to ensure their right to education, preventing any disruption to their studies; and find ways to stabilize the psychological well-being of students and their parents.

For teachers, administrators, and staff, ensure the implementation of policies and regulations (salary, allowances, social insurance, health insurance, unemployment insurance) as agreed upon with employees in the signed labor contracts; fully comply with regulations on the employment of foreign workers in accordance with the law.

Many transfer options are available for students at AISVN International School.

Regarding measures to ensure the legal rights and interests of students, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training stated that, from April 2024 to the present time, according to reports from educational institutions, there have been 134 cases of parents of students at AISVN International School transferring their children to other schools.

Specifically for schools teaching the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, the student capacity for the 2024-2025 school year, as recorded at the time of the survey, was 1,251 places, more than the number of students currently studying at AISVN International School.

The Department has also provided guidance on transferring schools for students of this school at https://chuyentruong.hcm.edu.vn.

Students in grades 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 for the 2023-2024 school year can register to transfer to: public and private secondary schools teaching the Ministry of Education and Training's general education program; schools implementing integrated programs; and foreign-invested schools teaching the International Baccalaureate (IB) program.

Students in grades 9, 10, and 11 in the 2023-2024 school year can register to transfer to: private high schools teaching integrated programs as approved by the Ministry of Education and Training; and schools with foreign investment teaching foreign programs or the IB program.

Meanwhile, last week, AIS Vietnam International School announced the appointment of its new headmaster. Dr. Thomas Annis will be the headmaster of AIS Vietnam International School from the 2024-2025 academic year. Dr. Thomas Annis previously served as headmaster of the school from 2012 to 2016.
