Ms. Le Thi Be (Binh Hiep commune, third from left) wrote a request to leave the near-poor household status to give support to more difficult cases.
The husband has a hearing disability, and Mrs. Be is often sick. Out of pity for the elderly, childless couple, every month, the commune mobilizes benefactors to donate gifts such as rice, necessities, etc. In addition, the commune also fully and promptly implements preferential policies of the Party and State for the poor.
In particular, implementing the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction, the commune created conditions for Mrs. Be and her husband to receive a pair of breeding cows. Seeing that life was less difficult, Mrs. Be and her husband discussed writing an application to escape the near-poor household status.
Mrs. Be confided: “For many years as a near-poor household, my husband and I have received a lot of attention and support. Now that life is more stable and not as difficult as before, writing an application to escape poverty is the right thing to do. The family still receives attention from the local government such as giving health insurance cards, receiving gifts on holidays, Tet, etc. My husband and I will try to take advantage of the land around the house to grow grass and raise cows to have more income and continue to improve our lives.”
From a pair of cows initially supported, Mrs. Be and her husband have bred and expanded their livestock barn. Their life is not without difficulties, the house is still dilapidated but they believe that with their own efforts and will, the journey to stabilize their lives will become a reality.
The application for near-poverty relief by Mrs. Be and her husband also shows that poverty reduction has really come into life. People are no longer subjective, waiting for help from the State and the community, but have risen up with their own will and determination./.
