Following Hanoi's solemn celebration of the 80th anniversary of National Day, Ho Chi Minh City, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong, and other cities concluded their summer tourism season with great success in terms of both visitor numbers and revenue.

Ho Chi Minh City reaps a bumper harvest.

On September 2nd, according to observations by reporters from the Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper, many destinations in Ho Chi Minh City such as Suoi Tien Cultural Tourist Area, Dam Sen Cultural Park, Cu Chi Tunnels Historical Site, and the city center areas like Ben Thanh Market, Ho Chi Minh City Post Office , and museums were bustling with visitors. Dam Sen Cultural Park reported welcoming approximately 10,000 visitors during the holiday period.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, the city is asserting its position as a major tourism and entertainment center of the country. With the diverse range of products prepared by businesses and a series of cultural and artistic activities throughout the holiday, the September 2nd holiday at various destinations will not only meet the entertainment needs of the people but also contribute to promoting the development of domestic tourism.

In Vung Tau City, the Back Beach (Thuy Van) area was packed with people swimming, playing, and taking photos. Along the long stretch of sand, tourists of all ages frolicked in the waves, strolled around, and relaxed under umbrellas, creating a vibrant and festive beach scene.

Many families bring young children, taking advantage of the short holiday, while young people are eager to check in at new spots like Tam Thang Square or take walks along the coast.

"We traveled from Dong Nai yesterday, and this morning the beach was already packed with people. The atmosphere was very lively and cheerful; it was truly a memorable holiday," said Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong, a tourist.

According to preliminary statistics from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, during the four-day holiday, the number of visitors to tourist attractions and entertainment venues in the city was estimated at approximately 1,450,000; the number of international visitors was estimated at approximately 45,600. The number of guests staying at accommodation establishments was estimated at approximately 300,000. Occupancy rates were estimated at around 87%. Tourism revenue was estimated at 4,140 billion VND.

On the final day of the holiday, people began returning to Ho Chi Minh City. At Tan Son Nhat International Airport, 725 flights were expected to arrive and depart on September 2nd. The total number of passengers passing through the airport was approximately 110,000, including nearly 27,000 domestic departures and over 37,000 domestic arrivals. In Ho Chi Minh City, during the peak period of the September 2nd holiday, the average number of flights per day was 730, an increase of about 6% compared to the current flight schedule.

Stimulating domestic tourism

Later that same day, the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that during this year's National Day holiday on September 2nd, the city welcomed over 620,000 visitors, a 24% increase compared to the same period in 2024.

Many major tourist destinations such as Sun World Ba Na Hills, Nui Than Tai Hot Spring Park, Mikazuki 365, VinWonders Nam Hoi An, Hoi An Ancient Town… all recorded a large number of visitors.

Notably, Sun World Ba Na Hills organized the "National Pride" program along with the "Beloved Vietnam - Our Homeland Shines Brightly with Flags and Flowers" campaign, decorating the Golden Bridge with vibrant national flags, creating an impressive check-in point. The Eternal Square was decorated with nearly 10 tons of pumpkins, including a 171 kg pumpkin that broke the Vietnamese record. Besides offering over 40% off tickets for Vietnamese visitors, Ba Na Hills also provides many unique culinary and artistic experiences.

During this period, tens of thousands of visitors flocked to historical sites in Quang Tri such as Quang Tri Ancient Citadel, the banks of Hien Luong - Ben Hai River, and the Vinh Moc Tunnels… Ms. Cap Thi Thien Trang, Head of the Management Board of the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel National Special Historical Site (Quang Tri province), said that in the past two days, nearly 8,000 visitors came to pay their respects to the heroic martyrs. Among the crowds visiting this site, everyone expressed gratitude and emotion at the heroic sacrifices of the martyrs for the peace and unity of the Fatherland today.

According to the Khanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, during the four-day holiday, accommodation establishments in Khanh Hoa province welcomed 275,000 guests, an increase of 10.35% compared to the same period last year, including more than 68,000 international visitors, an increase of 47.6%. The average occupancy rate of accommodation establishments was approximately 79.36%.

According to a report from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, security and order during the National Day holiday on September 2nd were strengthened and ensured. Tourism businesses strictly implemented regulations on fire prevention and control, security and order, and food safety and hygiene. The Tourist Information and Support Station of the Khanh Hoa Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center (located in Nha Trang coastal park) served a number of tourists, most of whom requested information about tourist attractions, entertainment venues, routes, and currency exchange points.

Tourism in Da Lat is affected by the weather.

Lam Dong province estimates that the total number of tourists visiting and staying in the province during the holiday period will be approximately 590,000, generating revenue of around 750 billion VND. This number represents an increase of about 6.8% compared to the same period in 2024, with an estimated 10,500 international visitors. During the holiday, the number of guests staying at accommodation establishments in the province will be concentrated from August 30th to September 1st. The average room occupancy rate is expected to reach approximately 60%-70%; the occupancy rate for 3-5 star hotels is expected to reach approximately 75%-85%.

According to a tourism industry leader, the number of visitors this year has increased but not dramatically, partly because some tourists prioritized going to Hanoi for the National Day celebrations on September 2nd. In addition, the weather in Da Lat has been quite erratic in recent days, with sunny mornings followed by cloudy and rainy afternoons, so the number of tourists has not been excessively high. Therefore, most tourists are concentrated in the Phan Thiet beach area. (Tr. Nguyen)
