After the opening whistle, the Vietnamese women's team rushed to attack and quickly scored the opening goal. In the 4th minute, goalkeeper Ezza's mistake allowed Hai Yen to open the score. With the early goal, the Vietnamese women's team played very comfortably, while the Malaysian women's team had to huddle together to defend.
With a one-sided game and Malaysia’s defense not being particularly good, goals for the Vietnamese women’s team were just a matter of time. In the remaining minutes of the first half, goals from Bich Thuy, Hai Yen (double) and Hai Linh helped coach Mai Duc Chung’s team enter the break with a 4-0 lead.
