Applying technology to improve the operations of millions of Vietnamese small traders

In the context of the world entering the digital economic era, digital transformation is no longer an option, but an inevitable requirement for sustainable development. This will be the key driving force to help businesses improve their competitiveness, optimize their supply chains and bring better experiences to consumers.

Sharing at the event "Digitalizing the retail industry and launching the OneShop brand" held on the morning of October 27, Mr. Le Huynh Minh Tu, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City, said that according to the orientation of Resolution 57-NQ/TW and the National Digital Transformation Program, the City aims for the digital economy to account for 40% of GRDP by 2030, in which the trade and service industry, especially retail, plays a leading role.

To achieve this goal, the City Department of Industry and Trade has deployed many synchronous solutions to promote digital transformation in the industry and trade sector, specifically: Building a digital ecosystem for the trade and distribution sector, connecting businesses, suppliers, distributors, logistics, and consumers on the same shared data platform; digitizing traditional market systems and retail channels, helping small traders and small businesses access cashless payments, e-commerce and modern business support platforms.

Mr. Le Huynh Minh Tu, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City, emphasized that the Department always accompanies small traders to promote digitalization.

At the same time, the city also supports small and medium-sized enterprises to improve their digital transformation capacity through training, consulting, and technology and financial support packages. “We coordinate with technology and investment units; in which, One Mount and its partners at today's event are a typical example. All for the goal of jointly developing and building models of 'smart retail', 'digital supply chain' and 'industry data connection'," said Mr. Tu.

Representatives of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade also highly appreciated One Mount Distribution's efforts in pioneering the development of the OneShop platform, a comprehensive digital retail chain model, connecting manufacturers - distributors - shop owners to consumers. This is not only a technology product, but also a testament to the companionship between businesses and the state in the digital transformation journey.

The birth of OneShop contributes to realizing the goal of the state in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular, which is "building a transparent, modern, sustainable retail industry and spreading digital transformation values to all components in the economic ecosystem".

In the coming time, the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City will continue to accompany the business community, investors, and technology units to promote deeper digital transformation throughout the industry, towards a modern, connected, and green commercial ecosystem.

Ms. Dang Hong Thuy, Director of Trade Development, One Mount Distribution, said that currently, Vietnam has more than 5.2 million individual business households, estimated to contribute about 30% of GDP and create jobs for tens of millions of workers. This force is considered the "blood vessel" of the national consumer economy, but is also facing many new challenges as digital transformation takes place extensively.

According to Ms. Thuy, the regulations on implementing electronic invoices, transparency of goods sources, and abolishing lump-sum taxes from January 1, 2026 also pose problems in management and adaptation capacity, requiring businesses to transform to keep up with the times and develop sustainably.

Oneshop leaders share plans to "digitize the retail industry" in the next 5 years.

Faced with that reality, One Mount Distribution, a member of One Mount Group, has pioneered the implementation of a technology solution specifically for small traders. In 2020, One Mount Distribution launched VinShop, a platform connecting manufacturers - distributors - retailers, helping shop owners "sell more easily, more effectively and live better in the digital age".

After 5 years of development, One Mount Distribution serves more than 120,000 grocery stores, connects more than 500 brands and suppliers, and supplies 10,000 genuine products in essential industries. In 2025, that journey will be inherited and enhanced with OneShop, a brand with the mission of "Accompanying Vietnamese small traders to get rich", aiming to create a smart, comprehensive and sustainable retail ecosystem.

A business representative said that OneShop is determined to achieve the goal: “Every small shop will become a digital store, leaving no one behind in Vietnam’s digital transformation journey.” For distributors, the data system allows real-time tracking of goods circulation, identifying good-growing points of sale, thereby creating more optimal supply plans. For brands and suppliers, OneShop provides multi-dimensional market data, helping to make quick, accurate decisions that are close to Vietnamese consumer needs. Thanks to that, OneShop creates a “closed data circle”, seamlessly connecting manufacturers – distributors – stores – consumers, contributing to promoting a transparent, efficient and modern supply chain.

“OneShop will continue to expand its scale, diversify its product lines, deeply apply data and artificial intelligence to optimize operational efficiency, personalize business experiences, and contribute to shaping the future of Vietnam's retail industry,” CEO Le Thiet Bao, General Director of One Mount Distribution, shared.
