Lesson 1: The Silent "Pink Swallow" in a Remote Region

For nearly 20 years, Mr. Tran Van Tinh, the head teacher of the Youth Union at Thanh Tung Secondary School in a small, remote village, has dedicated himself to teaching the Youth Union. He has written a beautiful story of love for his profession, a sense of responsibility, and resilience in overcoming difficulties. Not only is he devoted to his work, but he is also a pillar of support and encouragement for hundreds of underprivileged but studious students.

In particular, during the 2019-2020 school year, Mr. Tinh was honored to receive a Certificate of Commendation from the Prime Minister – a prestigious award recognizing the tireless dedication of a humble yet inspiring teacher.

From the 2006-2007 school year to the present, Mr. Tinh has been assigned as the Head of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers Organization at Thanh Tung Secondary School, a school facing many difficulties in terms of facilities and a high percentage of poor and near-poor students. Despite this, he has never wavered. With the belief that "the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers Organization is not just an organization but an integral part of comprehensive education," he always pioneers innovation in all extracurricular movements and activities.

Teacher Tran Van Tinh constantly innovates the content of the Youth Union and Student Association activities to increase the enjoyment and learning opportunities for the members.

Teacher Tinh proactively advised the school's Board of Directors, the Youth Union, and homeroom teachers to effectively implement cultural, sports, legal awareness, and life skills activities. Major campaigns such as the "Two No's" campaign, "Every teacher is a role model of morality, self-learning, and creativity," and the "Building a friendly school, active students" movement were all concretized by him into specific, attractive models and programs suitable to local conditions.

Under Mr. Tinh's guidance, the school's Youth Union activities are no longer merely ceremonial but have become an environment for cultivating morality and character, fostering responsibility and sharing among students. The students not only excel academically but also become more active and caring towards the community.

At every meeting, Teacher Tran Van Tinh always emphasized rewarding and commending outstanding and enthusiastic team members.

Teacher Tinh also serves as a "bridge of compassion," connecting underprivileged students with benefactors. In just five years, he and the school's management team have raised over 125 million VND in cash and in-kind donations. From this support, hundreds of practical gifts have reached students: 75 sets of uniforms, 13 bicycles, 37 accident insurance cards, 6 health insurance cards, 82 school bags, 5,200 notebooks, and 75 scholarships worth between 500,000 and 1,000,000 VND per student.

This support not only helps the children overcome difficulties to attend school but also fosters their confidence and motivation. As a result, many students who had considered dropping out have returned to class; many shy and insecure students have now become outstanding members of the youth organization and exemplary class leaders.

Persistently sow love

Mr. Tran Van Tinh's persistent and quiet contributions have been recognized with many prestigious awards: Excellent Teacher in Physical Education at the provincial level (2010), Mekong Delta regional level (2013), Outstanding Teacher in Physical Education at the national level (2015); Central Level I Coach (2017) and Central Level II Coach (2020); Commemorative Medal "For the Young Generation" (2021).

Teacher Tran Van Tinh continuously participates in the national Kim Dong training camp to learn more from other youth group and association leaders and improve his own capabilities in his work.

Mr. Tinh has consistently achieved the title of "Outstanding Emulation Soldier" at the grassroots level for 10 consecutive years (2009-2020); received Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province 8 times; received Certificates of Merit from the Central Youth Union 3 times; been an outstanding Party member for 5 consecutive years; has 10 recognized innovative ideas at the district level and 1 recognized at the provincial level. He was awarded the "Outstanding Performance" award by the Dam Doi District Party Committee, Ca Mau province (formerly) for 5 consecutive years (2016-2020).

In particular, during the 2019-2020 school year, he was honored to receive a Certificate of Commendation from the Prime Minister, a rare and prestigious award for a teacher in a remote area, a testament to the value of a teacher who "teaches with heart and lives with virtue".

Every activity session led by Teacher Tran Van Tinh is lively and inspiring for the team members.

Marking nearly 20 years of silently sowing knowledge and inspiring others, in 2025, Mr. Tran Van Tinh was honored to be one of 80 outstanding teachers nationwide to receive the "Pink Swallow" award from the Central Youth Union Council. This award recognizes outstanding achievements in youth work and children's movements. It's not just a title, but the culmination of decades of quietly sowing love and nurturing life values ​​for generations of students.

As the Youth Union leader, I see myself as someone who 'ignites the flame,' not only organizing but also inspiring the younger generation. The recognition I receive today is a great joy and a motivation for me to continue contributing even more. I appreciate and am grateful to the Youth Union councils at all levels and all those who have accompanied and supported me throughout this journey. ”
