DNVN - On the afternoon of October 23rd, the Da Nang Department of Tourism, in coordination with Vietjet Air, inaugurated the Da Nang - Ahmedabad (India) route with a frequency of 2 round-trip flights per week using Airbus A320 aircraft, with 180 seats per flight.
According to Vietjet Air's Deputy General Director, Do Xuan Quang, Ahmedabad is the largest city in Gujarat state and the second largest metropolitan area in India, with a population of approximately 5.1 million people. It is an attractive destination, similar to Da Nang and Central Vietnam, due to its unique blend of ancient cultural heritage and modern development.
Leaders of the Da Nang City People's Committee and Vietjet Air performed the inauguration ceremony for the Da Nang - Ahmedabad (India) flight route on the afternoon of October 23rd.
According to the Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee, Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, in the first nine months of 2024, the city's tourism industry welcomed nearly 8.7 million overnight visitors, including nearly 3.2 million international tourists. Notably, although there are no direct flights from India to Da Nang, the number of visitors from this most populous market in the world to the city on the Han River in the past nine months still reached over 139,000, an increase of more than 4.2% compared to the same period in 2023.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi emphasized that Da Nang's tourism products, services, and service quality, in particular and Central Vietnam in general, are very suitable for the tastes of Indian tourists. In the past period, the city has received and provided information support to 20 out of 91 Indian MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourist groups, and attracted 4 large weddings of Indian couples with over 1,200 guests.
With its beautiful coastline, luxury resorts, and increasingly sophisticated and attractive tourism products such as golf tourism, MICE tourism, wedding tourism, cuisine, and culture, in recent years, Indian tourists have gradually come to know Da Nang as a "paradise" for high-end travel and a wedding destination for Indian billionaires.
“The launch of Vietjet Air's direct flight route between Da Nang and Ahmedabad will create favorable conditions to attract tourists from Ahmedabad in particular and the 1.4 billion-strong Indian market to experience attractive destinations, enjoy unique cuisine, and take advantage of distinctive tourism products in Da Nang – a leading festival and event destination in Asia,” Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi emphasized.
The leaders of the Da Nang City People's Committee also acknowledged that the launch of the Da Nang – Ahmedabad flight route not only meets the increasing travel demand between the two countries but also opens up new opportunities for economic, educational, cultural, and technological cooperation between the two cities in particular, and Vietnam and India in general.
On this occasion, the Da Nang Department of Tourism, in collaboration with Vietjet Air, invited Miss Universe India 2024 - Rhea Singha and KOLs Ekta Sandhir to stay, experience, and shoot videos and photos promoting Da Nang as a tourist destination. They also invited a famtrip of 20 travel companies and a press trip of 19 journalists from India to survey and promote Da Nang tourism in major Indian newspapers.
According to the program, tomorrow morning, October 24th, the Da Nang Department of Tourism will continue to coordinate with Vietjet Air and relevant units to welcome the first passengers on the flight from Ahmedabad (India) landing at Da Nang International Airport.
