VinFast Limo Green: Electric MPV for urban 7-seat service

VinFast Limo Green appeared in the context of 7-seat service vehicles being dominated by gasoline-powered MPV models such as Mitsubishi Xpander or Toyota Innova Cross. Despite its late launch, Limo Green chose a different approach: pure electric, aiming for low total operating costs and taking advantage of the V-GREEN public charging infrastructure.

Just a short time after its official introduction in early August, VinFast said it had delivered a total of 2,120 vehicles by the end of September. Sales of more than 2,100 vehicles in the first month show that the electric MPV segment still has room, especially when the charging infrastructure problem is met.

Design focuses on the functionality of a service MPV

Limo Green is a 3-row, 7-seat pure electric MPV. Dimensions length x width x height are 4,740 x 1,872 x 1,728 mm, wheelbase 2,840 mm, aiming for practical and flexible use space.

The two rear seats can be folded down, allowing for quick conversion between passenger and cargo transport. This approach is suited to the specifics of service transport: priority is given to space, convenient access/exit and the ability to customize the rear compartment.

In the 7-seat MPV group for service, Limo Green will compete directly with the pure electric BYD M6 (priced at 756 million VND), and at the same time share customers with mid-size gasoline models such as Toyota Innova Cross (825 million to 1.005 billion VND) and Hyundai Custin (820-974 million VND).

Minimalist cabin, focused on practicality

According to the company's positioning, the Limo Green cockpit is kept at a basic level, enough for service operations. The dashboard layout is simple, focusing on quick and easy-to-use operations.

The plus point comes from the flexible folding rear seat configuration, which helps optimize luggage space for each shift. For service customers, durability and low operating costs are priorities, instead of luxury equipment.

Electric power and operating problems

Limo Green uses an electric motor mounted on the front axle, with a maximum capacity of 201 horsepower and a maximum torque of 280 Nm. The 60.13 kWh battery pack provides a maximum operating range of 450 km after each full charge (according to the announcement).

When connecting to a fast charging station, the charging time from 10-70% is about 30 minutes. With the characteristics of service vehicles requiring high frequency of use during the day, fast charging capability is a key factor to ensure the operating schedule.

Safety and technology: the known and unknown

The current data source does not detail the advanced driver assistance features (ADAS) or standard safety ratings for Limo Green. For service customers, reliability and cost of ownership are the focus, while entertainment features or advanced assistive technology will need to be monitored through further announcements from the company.

VinFast applies a free charging policy at V-GREEN public stations until the end of June 2027 for VinFast electric cars. For Limo Green in particular, this incentive helps operating costs become almost zero for the next two years, creating a cost advantage over gasoline cars of the same class.

BYD M6: pure electric competitor in the same segment

BYD M6 is the first pure electric MPV launched in Vietnam, using a 55.4 kWh Blade battery, with a maximum range of 420 km. This model stands out with a 12.8-inch center screen that rotates vertically and horizontally, a 360-degree camera with underbody vision and voice control support; the rear seats can be reclined.

Despite its potential, the BYD M6 faces the barrier of public charging infrastructure when serving the needs of multi-shift service. This is also a gap for Limo Green to promote the advantage of the V-GREEN network.

Price, positioning and exploitation channels

Limo Green is priced at 749 million VND; the rolling cost after incentives, according to the company, is just over 700 million VND. VinFast recorded sales of more than 2,100 cars in the first month from individual customers and outside transport businesses, not including the expected number of cars for Xanh SM.

From October 21, the 7-seat Green SM Limo taxi service officially operated with a fleet of Limo Green cars painted in gray or black. Accessing the existing customer base helps this electric MPV model quickly become a dense presence in the 7-seat service vehicle segment.
