This afternoon, November 12th, Lieutenant Colonel Phung Viet Duc, Deputy Head of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Dak Lak Provincial Police, stated that the cause of the large fire that occurred at noon on November 11th in the central area of Buon Ma Thuot City was an electrical malfunction.
According to Mr. Duc, at around 10:30 a.m. on November 11, residents discovered a fire emanating from the advertising sign of house number 229 Le Hong Phong Street (Buon Ma Thuot City).
At this point, people used fire extinguishers and scooped up water to put out the fire. However, because the billboard was made of flammable materials and was located high up, the firefighting efforts were ineffective.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Duc, after receiving the report, the unit dispatched 1 command vehicle, 7 fire trucks, 1 ladder truck, and 50 officers and soldiers to the scene. In addition, they coordinated with 30 officers and soldiers from the Buon Ma Thuot City Police, along with local residents and forces on the ground, to control the fire.
When authorities arrived at the scene, the fire had engulfed the front facades of houses number 229 and 231 Le Hong Phong Street, with a high probability of spreading to neighboring businesses and residential buildings.
After about 30 minutes of firefighting and rescue operations, the fire was basically brought under control and did not spread.
The fire completely destroyed two houses at numbers 229 and 231 Le Hong Phong Street. The advertising sign at house number 233 Le Hong Phong Street was also damaged by the heat.
