For those who have been following Xuan Hinh's artistic path, the title of the book is not unfamiliar, as he once named it for the live show celebrating his 40th anniversary in the profession. Exactly 10 years later, at the milestone of 50 years in the profession, once again, the Northern comedian self-deprecatingly calls himself "a folk humorist", nothing more, nothing less.

The memoir of the "country guy" consists of 5 parts and appendixes of works and images, providing a comprehensive view of the artist's personality, life and career perspectives. In it, the "Bac Bling player" refuses to talk about sensational, audience-pleasing personal secrets. Instead, he seriously looks back on his life from when he was a poor, miserable boy who fell in love with art early to the years of struggling in life and career as a young artist before creating an impressive stage career with many marks.
The nearly 300-page book shares with young people valuable professional and personal experiences from a man who has devoted himself for 5 decades to his profession and to life. Above all, his love for folk culture - which to him is not only an artistic material but also a reason for living. "Without folk culture, I would be nobody. It is the place I return to, the cradle where I was born a second time - in art," he wrote in the book.

The artist also devoted part of the book to introducing the 5,000 m2 Mother Goddess Museum in Soc Son, Hanoi , the lifelong work of a male artist who is deeply attached to ancient capital. As he once shared with Thanh Nien : "At this age, I only like to spend money on things that... don't make money, but it is my lifelong wish. When working on culture, especially traditional culture, one must be sincere. After all, we have received the blessings of our ancestors, so we must pay them back...".
Refusing to delve into his private life, which he often jokes is "full of terrible secrets, even if beaten to death, he would not reveal", but the "king of comedy" does not forget to give his small family respectful words. Because for him, "a man's greatest success, besides a career that can make us hold our heads high when mentioned, is having a happy family"...
The book Xuan Hinh - The Folk Joke (Literature Publishing House) currently has two versions: a special hardcover edition, limited to 500 copies, and a regular paperback edition.
