At 1 p.m., the 33rd SEA Games flag-raising ceremony officially began. At around 2:45 p.m., the Vietnamese national flag began to be raised. The Vietnamese athletes and coaches present at the ceremony experienced emotional moments as they looked towards the national flag, amidst the majestic sound of the national anthem.

Vietnam sports delegation at the event
The neighboring country also held a flag-raising ceremony for the delegations attending the 33rd SEA Games in the same way that Cambodia did at the 31st SEA Games. Each country sent 33 members to the flag-raising ceremony - symbolizing the 33rd SEA Games (last year it was 32 members, symbolizing the 32nd SEA Games).
The flags will be raised by the Organizing Committee in alphabetical order of the countries’ names. Therefore, the Vietnamese flag will be raised second to last, right before the host country, Thailand (last). The ceremony is expected to end at 4:30 p.m.
The goal of the Vietnamese sports delegation
The Vietnamese sports delegation attending the 33rd SEA Games consists of 1,165 members, including 842 athletes, 189 coaches, and 19 experts, competing in 47/66 sports, with a total of 443/573 events.
Thai Organizing Committee presents souvenirs to Vietnamese delegation
Head of the Vietnamese sports delegation, Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh shared: "Although there are still difficulties, such as some key sports are in the stage of rejuvenating the force; a number of young athletes lack experience in international competitions; funding for overseas training is still limited compared to actual needs. Along with that, the competition from strong countries in the region such as Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines is increasingly fierce, creating great pressure on the achievement goals of the delegation.
Based on the analysis of the strength and the correlation of achievements in the region, the delegation set a target of striving to win from 90 to 110 gold medals, continuing to maintain its position in the leading group of Southeast Asia, while determined to protect the achievements of the two men's and women's football teams. All officials, experts, coaches and athletes of the Vietnamese sports delegation are deeply aware that this is an important task, a great responsibility and honor when competing for the glory of the Fatherland, for the pride of the Vietnamese people.
